VolunteeringThe Platteville Swim Team is not just Coach Matt’s team or the Park and Rec Department’steam. It is YOUR team. There will be times when we need volunteers, especially at swim meets.I expect that we will need one member of each family to volunteer at each home meet to makeit successful.There are also opportunities for high school athletes to volunteer with our younger children. Infact, their being there contributes greatly to the success of the team.That said, I want to let you know a few of the jobs parents may need to volunteer for at homemeets. (I will post volunteer sign-up sheets at the pool.)8 & Under Staging:Announcer:Awards:This duty helps younger swimmers get to their event and lane on time.Check event title for 8 & Under age group.Stage (line up) the 8 & Under swimmers according to event and heat.Ensure that swimmers are in the correct pool lane for the correct event and heat. Escortyoung swimmers to their lane as required.Announcer coordinates with the Meet Director, officials, chief timer, and others toensure meet announcements are made.Ensure microphone is working.Familiarize yourself with team names, event sequences, listed breaks.Coordinate meet start with Starter official and Meet DirectorMake event, break, and concessions announcements.Put labels on ribbons (Runner will bring labels from computer table)Sort ribbons by teamAt starting end of pool, give heat winners awards at each heat.Post event results near concessions area (Runner will bring result sheets)Back-up or Chief Timer:
