INTERACTIVE ACTIVITES FOR SATURDAY AUGUST 14thOregon Department of Fish and Game Angler Education Area: A diversity of interactivegames and activities which allow kids to have a chance to test their fishing skills andlearn more about rivers and fishing. While this program primarily focuses on childrenin the 4 th and 5 th grades, there is plenty of fun to be had in this area for kids of all ages.Upper Deschutes Watershed Council and Freshwater Trust: An interactive watershedmodel will be available which allows kids to see and experiment with how a watershedworks by altering precipitation, adjusting management impacts on the ground, andseeing how pollution works its way through the watershed. In addition, a booth will beprovided which explains some of the priorities and goals of the UDWC and FreshwaterTrust.Wolftree: Curious how the chemistry of the water varies around the Old Mill district?Through this station, Wolftree educators will help kids analyze the differences andsimilarities in water chemistry between the Deschutes River and Old Mill water features.Kids will have a chance to learn more about how the oxygen, pH and temperaturelevels change the quality of the water for fish and other life in the river.Kokanee Karnival: Through the passion and knowledge of retired professor JohnAnderson, kids can explore and study the unique adaptations and characteristics of ourriver's aquatic insects and organisms (macro-invertebrates). This station will have liveinsects to watch and study, as well as a diversity of preserved insects which help usbetter understand the rich mix of life surviving in our waters and what they mightbe able to teach us.United States Forest Service Storytelling Fish: You won't forget this beautiful inflatablefish, which will welcome visitors to this year's Trout Festival of Central Oregon. Kidscan remove their shoes and walk inside of this 40 foot long fish, meeting storytellersinside who will share words of wisdom about the importance of rivers, fish, andconserving our natural heritage.REI camping. Family camping is the focus <strong>from</strong> our friends at REI. On display will be awide variety of camping equipment that focuses on unique ways to make campingeasier for the whole family. Along with showcasing wonderful gear, REI will be helpingkids of all ages to put together their very own trail mix to take home with them!
