Essay Test Function Check:Users need to verify that the can successfully load the Blackboard test application and input text. By selecting “EssayTest Function Check” link, students can verify that this process works prior to taking the actual placement test.This screen will load in a new window with instructions. Users will select the “Begin” button to launch the Essay TestFunction Check.

Once the Essay Test Function Check test application screen loads, users will be given instructions, a timer indicating theirremaining time and a text box to enter a sample sentence. Once they have completed their sample sentence input,users should select the “Save and Submit” button to complete this function check.Student sample sentence response typed here.

Users will see a pop-up window after clicking the “Save and Submit” button to confirm their test submission. Click OK tocontinue.Users will see a receipt screen indicating that the test was submitted. Click the “OK” button to review results.

Users will see the screen below indicating the results of their test submission. By clicking “OK” they will return to the“English Placement Test” area that is initially seen upon entering the course site.If a user wants to try the “Essay Test Function Check” additional times they will be presented with the screen below. Totake the test again users will select the provided link “Start New Submission”

Taking the English Placement Test:Users who have successfully completed the Essay Test Function Step can now select the link titled “Click here to begintaking your English Placement Test” to begin taking their composition test.

This screen will load in a new window with instructions. Users will select the “Begin” button to launch the CompositionTest.

Once the Composition Test application screen loads, users will be given instructions, a timer indicating their remainingtime, a Yes/No question on whether their native language is English, essay questions and a text box to enter their essayresponse. Users should use the “Save Answer” button occasionally during the test to save their written response as theyare crafting it. Users are provided 2 attempts to complete the test successfully and the number ofattempts logged will appear on screen.
