The basis of its utility
is tested and certified in
accordance with Verband der Schadenversicherer
e.V. (VdS) certificate no. G 102055 as
alarm glass with an ”ISO-visible” designation
for Class C intruder detection systems (IDS).
Unsuccessful attempt to break into a photographic shop
This latest, safest version of glass surface monitoring is
achieved by means of an alarm output loop stably fusesealed
into the glass surface.
In contrast to glass breakage indicators positioned around
the sides of the room (which only trigger and alarm very
late), the attack-side, electrical glass surface fuse ensures
immediate alarm triggering as soon as the bearer surface is
damaged (due to a crack propagation rate of 1500m/sec.).
With regard to property insurance, the Confederation of
German Insurance Industry differentiates between three
intruder detection system (IDS) class headings with a total of
six security groupings (SG1 to SG 6):
IDS classification + allocation:
Category A: Simple household risk
Category B: Increased household and low commercial risk
(SG 1 – SG 2)
Category C: Increased commercial risk to the security
groups (SG 3 – SG 6)
Alarm glass illustrates Category C IDS, and is allocated the
following commercial usage types in accordance with VdS
loss prevention:
SG 3: Image and art, stamp, coin, tobacco dealers,
galleries, etc.
SG 4: DIY shops, gun shops, department stores, electronics,
IT, photographic shops, etc.
SG 5: Banks, financial and credit institutions
SG 6: Antiques, pawnshops, jewellers, gold/silver smiths,
watchmakers
Performance limitations:
The warranty for security insulation glass
ends at the connection unit at the end of the 300 mm
connector cable which is pre-fitted at the factory.
Every security insulation glass unit that we
produce is tested at the factory for current through flow,
and the measured resistance is confirmed in the enclosed
report.
Definition
Intruder detection systems (IDS) should preferably be
designed so that intrusions or attempted intrusions are
identified and detected as early as possible. To this end,
mechanical and electronic security devices must be
coordinated such that they take into account the
expected (police, security guard) intervention time, and
the ability of the intervention forces to reach your location
as soon as possible following an alarm before the intruder
has disabled the security devices.
Thus, the time to alarm triggering ratio and mechanical
security system survival time are of optimal significance in
terms of security.
This means: The earlier the alarm is triggered, the greater
the chance that the intrusion will be hindered, or stopped.
Glass break detectors are fitted to the glass surfaces on the
sides of the room, meaning that an alarm is triggered during
or after the glass surface has been penetrated.
is positioned on the side of the attack, and reports
this immediately – thus, before the penetration attempt.
VdS guideline 2311 regulates glass surface security, etc. as follows:
”Passive glass break detectors” in categories A and B
must not be used in Class C IDS due to their limited performance
characteristics.
The glazing to be monitored should not comprise
laminated safety glass or glass-like materials, and should
not have items bonded to it (such as transparent, or
shatter-proof films, etc.) or be coated with colours.
”Active glass break detectors”: Unless otherwise stated
in the certificate (check this!) in relation to the
identification of the detector, glazing monitoring must
not be fitted in locations such as jewellers and
watchmakers if jewellery, precious stones, precious
metals, medals, pearls, etc. are placed immediately
behind this.
”Alarm glass” consists of laminated safety glass with an alarm wire device or toughened glass
with an alarm loop. In the event of an attack which destroys the glass surface, the toughened
glass pane is completely destroyed, and interrupts the alarm loop.
Warranty:
The statutory warranty conditions (up to 3 years for nonmoving
items) are applicable as long as the glazing and
assembly guidelines which are available from us in written
form are complied with.
