In 1989, Dr. Mak commenced his travel and tourismcareer as supervisor with one of the largest travel agencies in Hong Kong, Farrington Travel Ltd.(now Farrington American Express Ltd.), focusing on corporate travel business. In 1992, hejoined The Hong Kong Polytechnic as Assistant Lecturer. Dr. Mak is a fellow of The CharteredInstitute of Marketing and Chief Examiner of Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examiner forthe subject of Travel & Tourism from 1997 to 2011. Dr. Mak holds a Bachelor degree inGeography, Hong Kong Baptist University, MSc in Tourism and Doctor of Philosophy in tourismat the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK. His teaching and research interests range fromairline and airport management to travel agency management.
