EASY TO DESIGNThe electric design of the busbars is achieved byZucchini in compliance with the product Standards. The rated current of our busbars is guaranteed ata room temperature of 40 °C (n.d.r. the Standardrequires 35 °C). After choosing the busbar whichis able to meet the operating current regulations, itwill be very easy to verify the voltage drop as wellas the protection against overcurrents by using thetechnical tables available for all our production lines. In particular, these tables define: the short circuit andpeak currents that can be supported by the busbarwaiting for the protection device located upstreamto start operating, the specific voltage drop basedon the average cos phi of the loads, the losses andother data (R, X, Rpe, etc.) which allow the planningengineer to carry out calculations with electricvalues, which are not estimated but the result ofmeasurements made during heating and short circuittests (in certified LOVAG laboratories), which havecertified all our product lines. When using busbars, the load protection is locatedvery close to the device (decentralized protection);junction boxes can contain protection devices such asthermal magnetic circuit breakers, fuse carriers andmotorized switches which allow you to easily andefficaciously manage the system.Example of an electric characteristics tableINTRINSIC SAFETYA busbar does not use large amounts of insulatingplastic material and potentially dangerous materialsin case of fire. Furthermore, the plastic materials usedfor the insulating parts of the busbars are alwaysself-extinguishing (from V0 to V2) and the gasemission is generally very low (Halogen Free).Low electromagnetic emission is another advantageof the busbars compared to that of an equivalentcable system: as a result, the metal plate casing ofthe busbars serves as a screen for the electric field(shielded enclosure); the extreme vicinity betweenthe phase conductors also reduces the emission ofthe magnetic field considerably. The tests carried outon one of our 2500A SCP busbars at full operatingcurrent has shown that the emission of the magneticfield (magnetic induction) is lower than 10 μT of theDecree at a distance of 0.3m, and lower than 3 μTat a distance of only 0.7m from the busbar. Thesefeatures make our busbars the unavoidable choicefor hospital facilities, data processing centres andwherever it is necessary to supply a large amount ofpower in the vicinity of workplaces and/or sensitiveequipment..Zucchini busbar electromagnetic emission.LOW-MEDIUM POWER GENERAL CATALOGUE

Basic concepts forbusbarsFLEXIBILITYBy using the outlet windows locatedon the straight elements, the busbarsprovide high management flexibility, both when planning (electricalengineer) and when installing thesystem (installer); they are also usedfor the unavoidable changes requiredby the electric system to adapt to thevaried needs of the end user. Thejunction boxes can be inserted andremoved from their windows whenthe busbar is electrically poweredand inserted in another junctionwindow, thus avoiding downtime. The engineering department in chargeof designing the busbar does not haveto know the exact position of themachinery and of the electric loadsthat will be installed in the company;the project that will be carried out willbe open to changes and variationswhich will be defined by the end userwhen operationally using the system. No more point-point connections butonly one power distribution systemto which you will always be able toconnect to wherever there is a freewindow. Because of its flexibility anddurability features Zucchini’s busbar, installed inside a building, allows youto easily change the destination ofits intended use of the rooms, thusgiving also advantages to those whomanage and locate the various partsof the building premises.Busbar systemCable and tube lighting system

QUICK INSTALLATIONZucchini’s junction and fixing systemshave been designed and created to installbusbars easily. In a cable and tray system, the time required to install only the tray isthe same used to install a complete systemin busbars. Furthermore, given the samecapacity, a power busbar, which generallyhas aluminium conductors, is much lighterthan a system made with (copper) traysand cables: lighter weights require a lowernumber of supporting frames or, in any case, more simple and inexpensive supportingframes. That is why the installation time ofa busbar is obviously shorter than a similarsystem made with cables.REDUCED DIMENSIONSThe overall dimensions of the busbars aregenerally smaller than an equivalent systemmade with cables, especially when the currentsto be carried exceed 1000A and when severalcables in parallel are necessary to ensure suchcapacity. Other advantages can be achievedwhen there are changes of direction where theradius of curvature of the cables is minimal andenough to not damage the insulating material;busbars allow you to change directions with 90°angles, thus optimizing the small spaces used inservice areas.LOW-MEDIUM POWER GENERAL CATALOGUE

LBLighting BuswayGENERAL FEATURESZucchini’s LB product line is the ideal solution forsupplying power to light fixtures for commercial andindustrial applications. The main features of the LBrange are:• speed, simplicity and flexibility when planning andinstalling the lines;• capable of being installed both in false ceilings andbelow floating floors, because of the IP 55 degreeof protection;• compliance with Standard IEC 60439-1 and 2;• rated at average room temperature of 40 °C for ahigher performance level compared to the 35 °Crating required by the standard.Straight elementClamping bracketTap-off plugsEnd feed unitShopping centresOffices2 LB - LIGHTING BUSWAY

LBLIGHTING BUSWAYSTRAIGHT ELEMENTSThe components and the features of the LB straightelements are:• a closed and rib-shaped section casing, made with hotgalvanized steel (Senzimir) (due to its cross-sectionand electrical continuity, it also serves as a protectiveconductor);• casing thickness 0.6 mm;• reduced dimensions 26x41 mm;• painted or with an anodized aluminium casingversions available on request;• number of conductors: 2, 4 or 6 rigid copperconductors with a 99.9% purity;• conductor section: 3.14 mm 2 for 25A and 6.15 mm 2for 40 A;• separation between the conductors by using a V0(according to UL94) self-extinguishing insulatingplastic sheathe and in compliance with the glow-wiretest according to IEC 60695-2-10;• tap-off outlets equidistant every 1m (3 outlets every3m) or 0.5m (6 outlets every 3m), receiving thecorresponding tap-off plugs (in the LB 6 conductorversion the outlets are arranged on both sides of thebusbar: 3+3 or 6+6 outlets);• a junction block automatically ensuring electricalcontinuity. The connection between two straight elements is quick;with one operation the mechanical and the electricalconnection is ensured between two joined elements;at the same time, an IP 55 degree of protection isguaranteed without using additional accessories. The continuity of the protective conductor (casing) isguaranteed by tightening the special connection screw. The whole busbar is fire retardant in compliance withthe IEC 60332-3 standard.Store houseHospitalsGENERAL FEATURESLOW-MEDIUM POWER GENERAL CATALOGUECATALOGO CONDOTTI SBARRE3

LBLighting BuswayFEED UNITSAllows you to electrically power the LB line through acable line; the installation is carried out with a quickjunction connection as with the straight elements. The feed units have terminals for the connection offlexible copper cables for sections of up to 25 mm 2 .There is an anti-pullout cable clamp inside the feedunit. The entrance point for the incoming cable ispositioned on the end of the feed unit.Standard end feed unitEND COVERThe end cover ensures the IP 55 protection degree atthe end of the line.End coverFIXING DEVICESSpecific accessories are available for attaching thebusbar to the structure of the building (directly orwith a steel chain or cable). The accessories for overhead fixing are:• snap clamp: the snap-on installation is extremelyfast. This bracket is suitable both for overhangingthe busbar to the ceiling and for hanging productssuch as fluorescent lamps, tap-off boxes, etc., tothe busbar itself;• snap clamp with ring or hook: the ring or the hookenables to hang lamps easily.• simple bracket: used with the ceiling bracketholder, it enables the installation the busbar directlyonto the ceiling at a distance of about 25cm;• wall bracket: enables the fixing of the busbardirectly onto the wall of a building, setting it at therequired distance enabling the installation of thenecessary components.Fixing accessories for fastening the busbar run to the structureand hanging the lamps onto the busbar4 LB - LIGHTING BUSWAY

LBLighting BuswayTRUNKING ELEMENTS AND ADDITIONALELEMENTSDepending on the different installation requirementsZucchini can provide various technical solutions:a) flexible joint: used to make changes of direction orto avoid possible interferences that may be found onthe natural path of the BUSBAR.The features are as follows:• same connection method as the straight elements;• electrical and mechanical connection with oneoperation;• standard degree of protection: IP 55;• continuity of the protective conductor, made from thecasing of the element itself, guaranteed by tighteningthe special connection screw;b) cable trunking with cover: this accessory, whichcan be positioned in the upper part of the busbar, can be used to distribute auxiliary circuits, it is anintegral part of the busbar run using special spacersand brackets which support the busbar trunkingsystem firmly. The trunking part is 3 m long and itsdimensions are 28x28 mm;c) intermediate feed unit: it can power the busbar froman intermediate point of the line, thus reducing thevoltage drop at the end of the line and/or makingthe installation easier when the electric energysupply point is near the middle of the line.Phase selectiontap-off plugsavailableWall suspensionbracketRing for suspending a lampor for suspending otheraccessories of the busbar.(boxes, loudspeakers, etc.)Snap-on bracket:can be used bothfor suspendingthe busbar itselfand other devices(lamps, etc)PARTS OF THE LINEPhase selection plugThree-phase plug with fuse carrierSingle-phase plugs with 1, 3, 5 m cable6 LB - LIGHTING BUSWAY

HLHigh LightingGENERAL FEATURESThe HL busbar line is ideal for powering lightingfixtures wherever it is necessary to hang heavyaccessories onto the busbar. The main features of theHL range are:• speed, simplicity and flexibility when installing andplanning the lines;• high mechanical rigidity obtained by the particular“beam-type configuration” and by an increasedthickness of the metal casing;• capable of being installed in systems with adistance of up to 6m between suspension brackets;• compliance with Standard IEC 60439-1 and 2;• rated at average room temperature of 40 °C for ahigher performance level compared to the 35 °Crating required by the standard.HL is available in two dimensions:• HLs single version for 2 and 4 conductors• HLd dual version for 2+2; 4+2; 4+4 and 2x4conductors.Straight elementTap-off plugClamping bracketStandard end feed unitExhibition pavilionsCar parks22 HL - HIGH LIGHTING

STRAIGHT ELEMENTSThe components and the features of the HL straightelements are:• a beam-shaped casing, made with hot galvanizedsteel (Senzimir) (due to its cross-section andelectrical continuity, it also serves as the protectiveearth)• HLs busbar dimensions: 26x62 mm; HLd: 40x70 mm;• upon request, the straight elements are alsoavailable in the Aisi 304 stainless steel version;• number of conductors: 2, 4, 6 or 8 rigid copperconductors with a 99.9% purity;• conductor section: 3.14 mm 2 for 25 A and6.15 mm 2 for 40 A;• separation between the conductors by using a V0(according to UL94) self-extinguishing insulatingplastic sheathe and in compliance with the glowwiretest according to IEC 60695-2-10;• tap-off outlets equidistant every 1m (3 outletsevery 3m) or 0.5m (6 outlets every 3m), receivingthe corresponding tap-off plugs (in the LB 6conductor version the outlets are arranged on bothsides of the busbar: 3+3 or 6+6 outlets);• a junction block automatically ensuring electricalcontinuityThe connection between two straight elements isquick; with one operation the mechanical and theelectrical connection is ensured between two joinedelements; at the same time, an IP 55 degree ofprotection is guaranteed without using additionalsealing accessories. The continuity of the protective conductor (casing)is guaranteed by tightening the special connectionscrew. The whole busbar is fire retardant in compliance withthe Standard IEC 60332-3.In the HLd (dual) version, the straight elementsare separated over their entire length by a metalplate divider (thickness 0.8 mm) which separatesthe straight elements in two parts making the twocircuits totally independent. Because of this divisionthe HLd busbar can be used for powering “normal”and “emergency” loads. The HLd line is designed so as to provide twoseparate rated circuits (25 A+25 A or 40 A+40 A) onwithout a derating factor, and not one one 25 or 40 Aincoming divided into two circuits.HLHIGH LIGHTINGSmall/medium industriesGymsGENERAL FEATURESLOW-MEDIUM POWER GENERAL CATALOGUECATALOGO CONDOTTI SBARRE23

HLHigh LightingFEED UNITSAllows you to electrically power the HL line throughone (HLs) or two separate lines (HLd); the installationis carried out with a quick junction connection as withthe straight elements. The feed units have terminals for the connection offlexible cables for sections of up to 25 mm 2 . There isan anti-pullout cable clamp inside the feed unit. Theentrance point for the incoming cable is positionedon the end of the feed unit.Standard end feed unitEND COVERThe end cover ensures the IP 55 protection degree atthe end of the line.Standard end coverFIXING DEVICESSpecific accessories are available for attaching thebusbar to the structure of the building (directly orwith a steel chain or cable). The accessories foroverhead fixing are:• snap clamp: the snap-on installation is extremelyfast. This bracket is suitable both for overhangingthe busbar to the ceiling and for hanging productssuch as fluorescent lamps, tap-off boxes, etc., tothe busbar itself;• snap clamp with ring or hook: the ring or the hookenables to hang lamps easily;• simple bracket: used with the ceiling bracketholder, it enables the installation the busbardirectly onto the ceiling at a distance of about25 cm;• wall bracket: enables the fixing of the busbardirectly onto the wall of a building, setting it at therequired distance enabling the installation of thenecessary components.Fixing accessories for fastening the busbar run to thestructure and hanging the lamps onto the busbar24 HL - HIGH LIGHTING

TAP-OFF PLUGSUsed for connecting and energizing light fixtures; theirfeatures include:• can be inserted and removed when the busbar isenergized and when the fixure is under load;• the PE contact (protective earth) is the first to make anelectrical connection when inserting the plug into theoutlet and it is the last to disconnect when pulling itout;• all insulating plastic components are in compliancewith the glow-wire test (IEC 60695-2-10) with V1 selfextinguishingdegree (UL94);• standard IP 55 degree of protection without usingadditional accessories according to Standard IEC 60529;• in the HLd line, the plugs are polarized, in otherwords the plug which is busbar on one side of theelement cannot be installed on the other side due to amechanical lock on the outlet;• the tap-off plugs are different for the HLs 2, 4 andHLd 2+2, 4+2, 4+4; 2x4 conductors offer. They include:a) 16 A phase selection tap-off plugs, pre-wired with1 m of 3x1.5 mm 2 FROR cable;b) 16 A phase selection tap-off plugs, with terminals forconnecting a cable;c) 16 A phase selection tap-off plugs, with Ø 5x20mmcylindrical ceramic fuse and with terminals forconnecting an L+N+PE cable;d) 16 A three-phase tap-off plugs, with a set of threecylindrical fuse carriers (8.5x31.5mm) with terminalsfor connecting a 3L+N+PE cable.HLHIGH LIGHTINGSingle-phase selection plugPlug with fuse carrierGENERAL FEATURESLOW-MEDIUM POWER GENERAL CATALOGUECATALOGO CONDOTTI SBARRE25

Trunking components andadditional elementsDepending on the different installation requirementsZucchini can provide various technical solutions:a) flexible joint: used to make changes of direction orto avoid possible interferences that may be found onthe path of the busbar.Their main technical features are:• same connection method as the straight elements;• electrical and mechanical connection with oneoperation;• standard degree of protection: IP 55;• continuity of the protective conductor, made from thecasing of the element itself, guaranteed by tighteningthe special connection screw;b) cable trunking with cover: this accessory, whichcan be positioned in the upper part of the busbar, can be used to distribute auxiliary circuits, it is anintegral part of the busbar run using special spacersand brackets which support the busbar trunkingsystem firmly. The trunking part is 3 m long and itsdimensions are 28x28 mm;c) intermediate feed unit: it can power the busbar froman intermediate point of the line, thus reducing thevoltage drop at the end of the line and/or makingthe installation easier when the electric energysupply point is near the middle of the line. The end capcompletes theinstallation of thelines and guaranteesthe IP 55 degreeof protection of theline.Straight elements, withtap-off outlets every1000 mm on bothsides, with pre-installedblanking accessory.Phase selectiontap-off plugs, alsoavailable with fuses.Ring for suspending alamp or for suspendingother accessories ofthe busbar. STRAIGHT ELEMENTSThe components and the features of the SL straightelements are:• a “beam-shaped” section, made with hotgalvanized steel (Senzimir) which, thanks to itssection and electrical continuity, can also serve asa protective conductor;• casing thickness: 0.8mm;• busbar dimensions: 26x62mm;• number of conductors: 4 copper conductors withpurity no less than 99.9%; section of conductors:9.5 mm 2 per In 40A and 12.3 mm 2 per In 63A;• separation between the conductors by using aV0 self-extinguishing insulating plastic sheathe(according to UL94) and in compliance with theglow-wire test according to IEC 60695-2-10;• tap-off outlets (IP40/IP 55) with a centre distanceof 0.75 m (4 outlets every 3m), set up for beingconnected with plugs and/or tap-off boxes;• an electrical joint block for automaticallyconnecting live parts. The connection between two straight elementsis quick; with one operation the electric and amechanical connection is easily made. The IP40performance of the SL line can be easily upgradedto IP 55 with joint covers and outlet covers. Thecontinuity of the protective earth is automaticallyensured when two components are joined. Thewhole busbar is fire retardant in compliance withthe IEC 60332-3 standard. There are also 3m straightelements with 6 or 10 tap-off outlets. Theseversions, which are characterized by high densityjunction points, are particularly valued in floatingunderfloor installations or when distributing energyon board the machine.Power linesLight linesSLLIGHT SERIESGENERAL FEATURESLOW-MEDIUM POWER GENERAL CATALOGUECATALOGO CONDOTTI SBARRE45

TAP-OFF BOXESUsed for energizing three-phase loads from 16 A up to1000A; they can be divided into two big categories:1) Plug-in type tap-off boxes (from 16 A up to 630A)with the following features:• Intervention under load possible up to 32A;• disconnection device integrated into the cover ofthe boxes with a rating from 63A to 630A, ensuringautomatic absence of electric current when the coveris opened;• possibility of padlocking box cover in the opendisconnectedposition so that all maintenanceoperations of the loads connected to it can be carriedout safely;• the supplied PE contact (protective conductor) is thefirst to make an electrical connection when insertingthe box into the outlet and it is the last to disconnectwhen pulling it out;• all insulating plastic components are in compliancewith the IEC 60695-2-1 glow-wire test and rated V2self-extinguishing according to the UL94;• standard IP 55 degree of protection without usingadditional accessories;• availability of boxes in the following versions:- with a set of three fuse carriers- with Lexic MCBs- with EEC sockets and Schuko sockets- with AC23 switch disconnector and fuse carrier- for MCCBs.2) Boxes bolted onto the connection (from 630A to1000A) which include the following features:• very easy, fast and reliable installation;• high rated current;• rigid connection to the busbar through the use of amonobloc junction similar to the straight elementsystem;• possibility of removing the boxes only when thebusbar is not energized (isolated busbar);• availability of boxes in the following versions:- with AC23 switch disconnector and fuse carrier- with MCCBsMRMEDIUM RATINGTap-off box with the possibility of installingmodular circuit breakersTap-off box with integrateddisconnecting deviceGENERAL FEATURESLOW-MEDIUM POWER GENERAL CATALOGUECATALOGO CONDOTTI SBARRE77

Trunking components andadditional elementsDepending on the different installation requirementsZucchini can provide various technical solutions:a) 90° elbows: available for carrying out changes ofdirection both horizontally and vertically. There is aquick connection, as for the straight elements. The standard degree of protection is IP 55;b) T-type and X-type elements, Z-type double elbowsavailable. The standard degree of protection is IP 55;c) straight elements with fire barrier (internal +external) S120 (certified for 120min).Tested in laboratories (in compliance with DINStandards 4102-9 and EN 1366-3) to confirm that, correctly installed, they maintain the intrinsic fireresistantproperties of the wall;d) straight elements with 5 outlets on one side; theyare ideal for riser mains or segments with a largenumber of derivations;e) straight elements with no outlets, used for energytransport only. The MR line is even more advantageous in verticalapplications (riser mains) as no thrust unit or thermalexpansion element is necessary. The MR monobloc isdesigned to compensate the thermal expansions of theconductors.IP 55 joint cover.Straight elements, with tapoffoutlets every 1000 mm.on both sides.Suspensionbracket.Tap-off box.PARTS OF THE LINEMetal end feed unitSwitchboard - transformer feed unitHorizontal angleVertical angle78 MR - MEDIUM RATING

AdvantagesPRE-ASSEMBLED MONOBLOCAll trunking components (straight elements, angles, etc.) are provided witha pre-assembled monobloc which considerably speeds up the installation ofthe system and makes transportation and storage operations easier.EXTREMELY FAST INSTALLATIONThe monobloc and the “dynamometric” bolt allow a very fast installation ofthe whole line.DYNAMOMETRIC MONOBLOCTighten the “dynamometric” bolt on the monobloc until the head breaks toelectrically connect the elements. The breakage of the bolt head guaranteeslong-lasting reliability and safety. The connection is maintenance free.In case of a future intervention on the line, the monobloc must beretightened using the second bolt head with a torque wrench at the correctsettings: 34 Nm (up to 315 A Al / 400 A Cu) or 55 Nm(up to 800 A Al / 1000 A Cu)80 MR - MEDIUM RATING

CONNECTION FLANGESIf the monobloc has been tightened improperly, the head of thedynamometric bolt will prevent the mechanical coupling from closing. Theconnection fl anges and the seals serve as a protection for the elementduring transportation and ensure their degree of protection as well as theirmechanical rigidity when being installed.IP OF PROTECTIONThe MR line on “edgewise” position has a standard IP52 protection degree;by simply adding the plug-outlet covers to the tap-off outlets, the line canreach an IP55 degree of protection.MRMEDIUM RATINGEXCELLENT FIRE RESISTANCEThe MR line has elements provided with a fl ame barrier (S120 accordingto DIN 4102-9 ISO 834) and structures which guarantee that the bus-linecontinues to function in case of fi re (E120 according to DIN 4102-12).The fi re load of the MR line is extremely low compared to the quantity ofplastic materials needed to insulate cables with the same capacity.GENERAL FEATURES 81LOW-MEDIUM POWER GENERAL CATALOGUECATALOGO CONDOTTI SBARRE

AdvantagesGLOW-WIRE TESTAll plastic materials are resistant and in compliance with the “glow-wire”test (IEC EN60439-2).VERSIONSThe MR symbol indicates a busbar with 4 conductors with an equal crosssection (3L+N), and the casing acts as the protective earth conductor (PE);the MRf (full) line has 5 conductors with an equal cross section (3L+N+PE).The MR and MRf lines are also available on request in a painted version (RALto be defi ned by the customer).SIMPLE AND RELIABLEThe “monobloc” connection of the MR line is able to compensate for anyheat expansion affecting the conductors, thus avoiding the need to insertspecial expansion elements even in considerably long systems. If the MR line is installed vertically (riser main) there is no need to installbusbar thrust units because the monobloc prevents the conductors fromsliding.82 MR - MEDIUM RATING

COMPATIBLE WITH THE SB RANGEThe tap-off boxes of the SB range can be installed without any modifi cationson the MR range. This allows existing systems to be extended.MAXIMUM STRENGTHThe MR range has been designed and manufactured for heavy industrialenvironments. TSTechnical descriptionGENERAL FEATURESThe TS (Trolley System) is part of the Zucchini rangeused for supplying power to moving devices such as:overhead cranes, traversing motors, assembly lines, etc. The main features of the TS range are:• quick installation thanks to the electric terminaljunction;• wide range of fixing accessories;• suitable for straight and curved sections (only forhorizontal changes of direction);• compliance with Standard IEC 60439-1 and 2;• rated at average room temperature of 40°C for ahigher performance level compared to the 35°Crating required by the standard.• available in the following versions: 3L+N+PE (5conductors) for ratings from 63-70-110-150A and3L+PE (4 conductors), for 250A rating in which theloads connected are normally three-phase motors.Automated warehousesCranesSuspension bracketStraight elementTrolleyFeed unit110 MR TS -- TROLLEY MEDIUM SYSTEM RATING

STRAIGHT ELEMENTSThe components and the features of the TS straightelements are:• casing made with a hot galvanized steel (Senzimir);• sheet metal thickness: 1.2 mm (1.5 mm for 250A);As for the 63A (MTS63) rating, the casing is madeof extruded aluminium with a minimum thicknessof 1.4 mm; it has good mechanical rigidity andpreserves its linearity over time.• number of conductors: 5 conductors with the samesection 3L+N+PE (4 for the TS 250A), shaped toguarantee excellent mechanical strength. Theconductors are made of 99.9% pure electrolyticcopper;• separation between the conductors using fibreglassreinforced plastic material ensuring a V1 selfextinguishingdegree (according to UL94) and incompliance with the glow-wire test according toIEC 60695-2-10;• the slot along the underside of the busbar allowsa current trolley to slide in it. The size of the slotensures an IP20 degree of protection;• an independent electrical junction terminal system(made of bronze plates) for fast and reliableconnection of the live conductors and the PE. Theterminals make an electric connection between theconductors, with a smooth flat lower part in orderto make the trolleys slide more easily. The wholebusbar is “fire retardant” in compliance with thestandard IEC 60332-3.Work station installationInstallation for mobile machineryMRMEDIUM RATINGTSTROLLEY SYSTEMCrane installationGENERAL FEATURES111LOW-MEDIUM POWER GENERALCATALOGO CONDOTTI CATALOGUESBARRE

TROLLEYSThese are used for connecting and supplying powerfor 25A – 40A – 80A or 160A three-phase loads (in thecoupled version); their features include:• The trolleys are equipped with 5 graphite brushes(3L+N+PE) which, due to the spring action, keep thecorrect pressure on the conductors enabling themto pick up current from the line while the trolley ismoving (travelling) inside the TS busbar.• The trolleys can be coupled with a mechanical joint soas to pickup twice the rated current of a single trolley.• The trolley is coupled to the motor with a “drive arm”which receives the movement from the same electricmotor supplying power to it.• The drive arms are connected to the trolleys withspecial springs which reduce the acceleration(so-called “sudden pulls”) when starting up and whenbraking;• Maximum travelling speed of the trolleys is 90 m/min(150 m/min for the MTS 63A).• Availability, on request, of a box with a set of threefuse carriers, used as an accessory, to protect the cablefrom overcurrents.• compliance with all insulating plastic componentsaccording to the glow-wire test (IEC 60695-2-10) withV1 self-extinguishing degree (UL94).• Standard IP20 degree of protection without usingadditional accessories.40A trolleyMRMEDIUM RATINGTSTROLLEY SYSTEMGENERAL FEATURES113LOW-MEDIUM POWER GENERALCATALOGO CONDOTTI CATALOGUESBARRE

Trunking components andadditional elementsDepending on the different installation requirementsZucchini can provide various technical solutions:a) curved elements: available for making changes ofdirection (only horizontally) up to a minimum radiusof curvature of 1.5m. There is a quick connection,as with the straight elements. Standard trolleys slideefficiently even within the curved sections of the line. The standard degree of protection is IP20;b) straight elements with trolley introduction device:these elements are provided with an access dooron the underside. With this door open, it is possibleto insert or remove a trolley from the line. Trolleyscan generally be put into the line near the endcovers. However, when there are lines with severaloperating trolleys or when using very long lines, it isrecommended to use an inserting centre element tomake maintenance operations on the trolleys easier. The standard degree of protection is IP20;c) straight lengths with thermal expansion device. These elements are necessary in lines exceeding35-40 m in length. Expansion elements absorb andcompensate the thermal expansion of the conductorspreventing them from losing their linearity, avoidingthe reduction of the air insulation distances andobstructing the sliding action of the trolleys. The end covercompletes theinstallation of thelines and guaranteesthe IP20 degree ofprotection of the line. The suspension bracket canbe positioned anywherealong the busbar.Straight elements.PARTS OF THE LINEEnd feed unitEnd coverElectrical and mechanical jointSuspension and joint bracket114 MR TS -- TROLLEY MEDIUM SYSTEM RATING

Determination of the operatingcurrent of a busbarIn order to determine the current whereby it is necessary to choose the busbar, the following planning data must be known:• type of load inputs: three-phase or single-phase;• type of circuit input: from one end, from both ends, central input, etc.;• nominal input voltage;• number, power and cos of loads which are to be fed by the busbar;• load diversity factor;• load use nominal factor;• assumed short circuit current at the input point;• room temperature;• type of busbar installation (edgewise, flat, vertical).VOLTAGE DROPv% = bdefinedI bVnLv%PTOT • • • dkI b=[A]3 • Ue • cos mediumb =2b =1ex: MR 160I b=15 20 25 30 35 40 45 50 55 601.15 1.12 1.08 1.05 1.025 1 0.975 0.95 0.93 0.89I nt I bI nt= k 1• I nWhen using a three-phase power supply, the operating current is determinedby the following formula:where:I boperating current [A]; load diversity factor [.]; load use factor [.];d feed factor [.];P TOTsum of the total active power of installed loads [W];Ue operating voltage [V];cos mediumaverage load power factor [.];The “d” input factor has a value of 1 when the busbar is fed from one end only. The value is 1/2 if fed from the centre or if it is fed from each end.Once the operating current has been determined, choose the busbar with a ratedcurrent immediately higher than the one calculated. All Zucchini products have been designed and tested for an average roomtemperature of 40 °C; should they be installed in rooms with average dailytemperatures different from 40 °C the rated current of the busbar should bemultiplied by a k1 factor that is greater than the unit for temperatures lower than40°C and lower than the unit if the room temperature is higher than 40°C.Roomtemperature [°C]k 1thermal correctionfactor [.]Finally, the following should be considered for the most appropriate busbarchoice:where I ntrepresents the maximum current loaded by a busbar for an indefinitetime at the specified room temperature.JOULE EFFECT LOSSESLosses due to the Joule effect are essentially caused by the electrical resistanceof the busbar. Lost energy is transformed into heat and contributes to theheating of the conduit. If the length of the line is particularly long (>100m) it is necessary to check thevoltage drop (hereinafter specified as v.d.). If the installation is a three phasesystem and the power factor is not lower than cos = 0.7 the v.d. may be calculatedwith the coefficients of the voltage drop specified in the technical data table.k .
