Page 10 - Woodland Springs Word - April 2013 • www.woodlandspringshoa.comDryer Vent Cleaning is ImportantRegular dryer vent cleaning isvery important. This task is frequentlyoverlooked by manypeople today, but it is important. Many people clean the lint trapin the dryer after they do a loadof laundry, and think this is goodenough. However, this is not thesame as dry vent cleaning.New Resident Meet & GreetOne of the main reasons is that lint within the dryer vents is actually afire hazard. Many home fires are caused each year by dryer hoses thatare blocked by the lint. The US consumer product safety commissionstudies have shown that dryers with too much lint cause over 15,000house fires every year.Cleaning the lint trap after each load of laundry is helpful but it does notdo anything for the lint that is already in the ductwork. Therefore, it isimportant to perform regular dryer vent cleaning. You will need to disconnect the dryer from the ductwork to be ableto access the ductwork. This can be a difficult job, depending on thelength of the ducts. If you cannot reach all the lint with a broom orvacuum cleaner, you should hire a professional service. This is importantto make sure the vent is completely cleaned out.Regular dryer vent cleaning is important for preventing fires, and alsokeeping the dryer working properly. Dryer vents should be cleaned outevery 12-18 months, and you will avoid a potential fire hazard. Please join us for our New Resident Meet & Greeton Friday, April 26th, from 6:30pm-8:00pm.This is an opportunity for new residents to learn more about yourcommunity and for current residents to welcome your new neighborsand share information.
