There is also a 3 / 4 inchvalve adaptor available, which provides a 3 / 4 inchconnector option to the valve without reducingperformance.APPLICATIONSStelrad Compact radiators are suitable for twopipe installations. For single pipe applications, it isadvisable to use diversion tees in the pipework, asthis will assist in obtaining design performance fromthe radiators.Although the Stelrad Compact is suitable forMicrobore pipework, the back tappings make itunsuitable for twin entry valves. For further information and advice call TechnicalSupport on: 01482 498 663.INSTALLATIONEverything required for installation can be foundwithin the robust packaging.Brackets are of a strong design, with open topand deep slots, which facilitate easy and secureinstallation. Plastic inserts seat the radiator preciselyon the bracket minimizing expansion andcontraction noise.CAUTIONThe neat nickel-plated plug and vent provide awatertight joint, whilst complementing the superiorfinish. To facilitate easy one off replacement, nickelplatedbrass extension pieces are also available forthe Stelrad Compact Towel Rail and CompactStandard radiators, complete with sealing washer, in20mm, 30mm and 40mm options.Recommended height from the floor to the baseof the radiator is 150 mm minimum. This allowsadequate airflow when the radiator is placed onthe bracket. When designing for domestic systems werecommend that the Stelrad Compact be used onlyin heating systems complying with British StandardCode of Practice for Central Heating for DomesticPremises BS 5449 Part 1.Single feed, indirect cylinders are notrecommended, as should interchange of wateroccur, fresh aerated water would enter the heatingsystem, resulting in corrosion.WATER TREATMENTOn completion of the installation the systemshould be properly flushed and filled in accordancewith the British Standard Code of Practice for theTreatment of Water in Domestic Hot Water CentralHeating Systems BS 7593.This will remove flux residues and installationdebris, which might promote corrosion and damagewithin the system. If it is decided to apply a corrosion inhibitor tomaximize the working life of the system, it shouldbe applied in accordance with the manufacturersinstructions and should be suitable for the particularmetals within the system.Further details of readily available cleansers andinhibitors can be obtained from: Sentinel Division,BetzDearborn Limited, Foundry Lane, Widnes,WA8 8UD. This involves several rinsing stages, including an iron phosphate and demineralizationrinse. The first coat of paint is applied byelectrophoresis and the radiator is then stovedand cooled. The second powder coat, in warmwhite (RAL 9016) is applied and the radiator goesthrough a final curing stage. It is then allowed tocool prior to packaging.
