MykenzieSemple competed individually in the 800m and High Jump.The four students in our relay; Clay, Curtis, Emma andMykenzie ran strongly. The standards were extremelyhigh. We were unable to qualify for the State Carnival.Thank you to the Dads who cooked for us on Friday. Thechildren loved their pancakes at Recess time. Thank youalso to the P&C ladies who conducted the Fathers’ DayStall. I’m sure there were many happy Dads on Sunday.The ‘Jump Off’ for Jump Rope for Heart is only twoweeks away. I hope everyone is supporting this greatcause. Each child has a sheet for recording sponsors.There are a number of prizes for them to win.Today the Staff has PBL (Positive Behaviour forLearning) Training. We will be looking at a new StudentWelfare Policy which will be aligned to positive classroomand playground behaviours. This Policy, once fullydeveloped, after student and community consultation, willreplace the current Moonbi School Student Welfare andFair Discipline Policy.I would like to again thank our hard working P&Cmembers. The committee has allocated funds forclassroom resources for each class plus the purchase of awhole school wireless internet. Thank you to all ourparents and families who constantly work to raise fundswhich benefit their child’s education.Friday will be a mufti day (out of uniform). Students maywear a crazy hairstyle and enjoy some fun activities onthe day. As this is our sports day, students are remindedto wear appropriate footwear – no thongs. Children areasked to bring along a $2 coin to help our effort in raisingmoney for children less fortunate.Bike riders are taking part in the ‘Sylvania 1000 K’s 4Kids’ ride from Ipswich to Newcastle and will be calling inat our school en route on 12 September. We look forwardto presenting them with our funds raised.School Drop Off and Pick Up AreaOur parking bay is located in Charles Street, opposite thefront gate area. School area speed zones do apply. Thankyou to those parents who are now dropping their childrenin this designated drop off and pick up area. Children arenot to be dropped off in Wellington Street. WellingtonStreet is predominantly used for parking by the staff andshould be kept as clear as possible around the gate areaas this is our designated Bus Zone. Please ensure that youleave your car and come into the school to collect yourchild.Active After School SportGolf on Wednesday afternoons and Netball Thursdayafternoons. Classes conclude at 4.pm, parents arereminded to amend travel and/or after school carearrangements. Please contact the office if your child isat school but will not be attending their scheduled ActiveAfter School Sport session. This will be noted as achange of arrangements and will save any confusion at3pm.Participation at Active After School Sport sessions isdependant on behaviour. Poor behaviour may result instudents not being permitted to attend.Page 1

Term 3 – Week 8Wednesday, 5 September 2012Home work ClubHomework Club is currently operating on Monday andTuesday afternoons from 3-5pm. Short stay (1 hour)$5 per child. Long stay - $10 per child.Supervision is able to be provided in case of any lastminute need on Wednesday, Thursday and Fridayafternoons. Should need again increase, we will increasethe days that Homework Club runs.Please contact the office if your child is to go toHomework Club and confirm any ongoing arrangements.Music LessonsOur music sessions have now been rescheduled as followsto allow minimal disruption to key learning times;Singing – Tuesday lunchtimeViolin – Wednesday mornings (please note allschool violins have now been hired, however, ifyour child has access to their own violin andwould like to join these classes, please contactthe office.)Guitar - Friday morningsDrums - Friday lunchtimeIf your child would like to join these sessions now, ormake any changes to their music lessons, please contactthe office as soon as possible either by telephone ornote.Weekly sessions in Singing, Drum and Guitar areconducted in small groups and cost $10 per student. Weask that students bring their tutoring money on theday as this money is paid directly to the tutors. Theoffice is happy to collect and hold these amounts untilyour child’s lesson and forward to the tutors on yourbehalf.P & C News Horse Sale – Saturday, 1/9/12We had another successful catering fundraiser over theweekend. Thank you to Penny Foster, Jen Hernando, KateBarber, David Robinson and Justine George for helpingout on Saturday. Thank you also to Joy Ballard, ElizabethWebster, Jocelyn Goodfellow, Abi Hudson, Kate Barberand Penny Foster for your delicious donations of bakedgoods, which went down a treat. Everyone’s input wasvery much appreciated.Clearing Sale – Saturday, 8/9/12 We will be catering aclearing sale at on Back Limbri Road, Moonbi, thisSaturday, commencing at 10.30am.
