A Better Way to RecycleThe author of A Better Way to Recycle is Erik Bichard assisted by his colleagues Liz Martin and LeeAllman, and Nick Dodd of URBED. Erik is Chief Executive of the National Centre for Business &Sustainability, a not-for-profit sustainable solutions organisation set up as a partnership between theCo-operative Bank and the Universities of Greater Manchester. Erik has had a varied academic andprofessional career encompassing sustainable management systems, behavioural change, socialaccounting and environmental impact appraisal. He lives in Liverpool with his wife and threedaughters.This publication arose from work led by the Sustainability Working Group of the New Ventures Panel,of which Erik Bichard, the author, is a member.The New Ventures Panel is a committee of individuals drawn from across the wider co-operativemovement charged with the task of thinking about innovation in existing co-operative businesses,new opportunities for co-operative colonisation and ways in which the co-operative advantage canmake a difference to business performance and the delivery of services. Its aim is to identify newopportunities in appropriate areas of the economy that have the potential to be successful co-operativeventures.
