CONTEG SOLUTIONSfor the next decade! One of the potential drawbacks of the Hot / Cold Aisle approach is the possibility of warm air recirculation due to insufficientstatic pressure within the raised floor or a lower than optimal ceiling clearance preventing adequate stratification of warmair. Of course, whether this actually occurs or not depends on many variables, however when facing this type of designchallenge it makes engineering and financial sense to form a physical barrier between cold and warm air streams. With CONTEG Contained Aisle solution, themodular containment system is used to physicallyseparate cooled air from hot exhaust by forminga cold plenum space and preventing mixing ofhot and cold air, thereby eliminating hot‐spots. The contained aisle solution can be deployedwhere higher density loads are collocated toensure that all available cooling air is directedto the cabinets. It can also be combined withCONTEG CoolTeg Cooling Units to produce coldair locally and ensure that all cold air producedpasses through the equipment. The system isdesigned to work with RSF/RDF/RHF/RSB/ROFrack series – the basis of CONTEG’s data centersolutions, and it is designed to support racks of42 and 45U heights. The transparent sectionsare manufactured from clear poly carbonateto ensure that light can pass easily into thecontained aisle. As an option, the Contained Aisle system can befitted with automatic door handlers and integratedwith the access control system, environmentalmonitoring system and fire alarm to ensure thatthe doors are opened or closed automatically. Forexample, in the case of a cooling system failure itwould be beneficial to open the doors of the coldaisle to allow environmental air to be available tothe equipment for cooling and to limit the rateof equipment temperature increase. However, should a fire be detected within a contained aisle, you would want to ensure that doors are closedto contain the suppressant within the affectedaisle. Obviously, this requires co‐ordination withthe designers of the access control, buildingmanagement and fire suppression system butgives you an idea of the flexibility that is availablewith the CONTEG contained aisle system.Modular Contained Aislesystem is availableupon request. Thissystem is the idealsolution when a rowof racks with differentheights or even withgaps because of missingracks is required tobe contained. Systemis based on self‐supportingconstructionwith clear polycarbonatepanels on the top of the roof. Vertical sidesections of the roof feature PVC foil strips, whichcan be easily cut to the required length. FlexibleContained Aisle can work with standard aisledoor (see above) or with PVC foil strips instead ofstandard door. Contact us for more information.Cold air is delivered to the cold aisle using the raisedfloor as a cold air handling plenum, the hot air is blownout on the back side to the data center room, roof anddoors are used to prevent mixing hot and cold airSliding door allow access into the containedaisle, it can be equipped by mechanical,Dualsynchro or automatic handling systemsoptionally. Sliding doors are made fromaluminium.By using the roof the cold air is “trapped” in thecontained aisle, the roof also efficiently blocks thehot air to re‐enter the aisle2www.conteg.com...to complete your network
