Introduction 2• SANBS <strong>donor</strong> frequency 2.19 – 2.23 ( 2012 <strong>to</strong>2011 ) for both <strong>donor</strong> centres and mobiles.(Table 1)• Certa<strong>in</strong> branches with<strong>in</strong> SANBS have howeverconsistently ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>high</strong>er return rates of2.69 - 2.74, result<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> safer blood collectedand improved blood s<strong>to</strong>cks• This study is aimed at determ<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g motivat<strong>in</strong>gfac<strong>to</strong>rs that encourage and enable <strong>donor</strong>s <strong>to</strong>donate blood regularly and repeatedly

Materials and Methods• A <strong>survey</strong> was conducted <strong>in</strong> one of the SANBS brancheswith a <strong>high</strong> <strong>donor</strong> frequency, 2.69 – 2.74( 151 Questionnaire )• 148 regular-repeat <strong>donor</strong>s aged 16 – 70 years wereselected randomly. Total branch active <strong>donor</strong> panel - 4586<strong>donor</strong>s• 107 White <strong>donor</strong>s, 40 black <strong>donor</strong>s and 1 Indian <strong>donor</strong>90 males and 58 females• A <strong>donor</strong> questionnaire was drafted and <strong>donor</strong>s <strong>in</strong>terviewedtelephonically and at the Donor centre.• The questions were based on the follow<strong>in</strong>g broad elements1.
