Norah and I have two daughters and four grandchildren. We recently celebrated our 50 th weddinganniversary. I retired in 2011 at the age of 79, but still continue to be active in research. Clearly,my career choices began in the chemistry laboratories of CCNY, to which I, like many before andsince, owe a great debt of gratitude. Abe Mazur pointed me in the right direction and helped me to getthe best training. <strong>The</strong> process of higher education for the youth of New York <strong>City</strong> begun in 1847, whichhas continued since, is something for which the people of New York can take great pride.***<strong>The</strong>lma (Terry) Zucker (maiden) Goldstein BSED, MAED:was a member of Kappa Delta Phi and Sis Gibbs ‘53. She earned the <strong>City</strong><strong>College</strong> Club Award for Scholarship and was graduated Magna Cum Laude.She earned her master’s degree from <strong>City</strong> <strong>College</strong> in 1955 and received aprofessional diploma in administration and supervision from St. Johns Universityin 1986. Mrs. Goldstein retired after 20 years with the NYC Boardof Education as Supervisor, Administrator, Chairperson and Assistant Chairpersonof the Committee of Special Education, District 26. After retirement,she spent 5 years running workshops on financial concerns for women forAARP in NYC and then became the volunteer coordinator for AARP NYC.She was on the Board of the National Council of Jewish Women for 12years. She is currently on the board of Retired Council of Supervisors andAdministrators – Manhattan Unit and is active in her temple, Shaaray Tefila.Terry Goldstein will be eternally grateful to <strong>City</strong> <strong>College</strong> for providing the lunch room, where she mether wonderful husband, Ira (1952) and enabling her to get a free outstanding education. Ira and Terryhave two daughters and four grandchildren.
