Plug & Alison BergerBorn in 1963 in Dallas, Texas, Alison Berger is an artist who has trained as anarchitect. She received a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and continuedher studies at Columbia University School of Architecture. She has worked on awide range of architectural projects with Frank O. Gehry and Associates. Actingas the project designer with Bausman-Gill and Associates, Berger collaborated onthe award-winning headquarters of Warner Bros. Records in Rockefeller Center.Having studied glass blowing for more than 25 years and apprenticed with sculptorDale Chihuly, Berger uses a time proven and time consuming process to createher art. Commissioned by Comme des Garçons, she fused object and space bycreating an architectural installation that framed her work in the Tokyo Showroom.She designed and manufactured an exclusive line of objects for Hermés.In addition to ongoing sculptural & lighting commissions, she currently producesher own line of glass objects, lighting and furniture that bridge her architecturaland sculptural sensibilities. She is the recipient of Elle Décor’s 2005 Elle DecoInternational Design Award’s Lighting Designer of the Year. This innovative work ispart of the permanent collection of the Corning Museum, shown at the Museumof Modern Art in New York and the 2006 Cooper-Hewitt National Design Triennial.Her work has been extensively exhibited and published throughout the UnitedStates, Europe and Asia.Ideas of bringing beauty and astonishment through light fixtures are the continuedwork of Plug and Alison Berger Glassworks. The relationship of Plug and ABGhas grown into one of mutual respect, friendship and creativity, which has allowedAlison to create one of kind pieces that are exclusive and special to Plug.2
