Backbiting - Islamic School System - Dawat-e-Islami

ِِِِِِِِBackbiting – A Cancer in our Society 19to the Aṣḥāb-e-Ṣuffaĥ next to the Masjid-un-Nabawī. They asked Sayyidunā Zayd Binfor some meat on صَ‏ َّ! االلهُ‏ تَعَالىٰ‏ ‏َلَيْهِ‏ وَاٰلِهٖ‏ وَسَلَّم if he would ask the Beloved Prophet ر‎5َ‎their behalf as they had not eaten any meat in days. When he left, they started talkingتَعَالىٰ‏ عَنْهُ‏ amongst themselves that Sayyidunā Zayd Bin Šābitَ would meet the Holy ر‎5َ‎ االلهُ‏Prophet صَ‏ َّ! االلهُ‏ تَعَالىٰ‏ ‏َلَيْهِ‏ وَاٰلِهٖ‏ وَسَلَّم in the same manner as they would, then why (what authority didhe have) would he narrate Ḥadīš to them.َ االلهُ‏ تَعَالىٰ‏ عَنْهُ‏ Šābitتَعَالىٰ‏ عَنْهُ‏ When Sayyidunā Zayd Bin Šābitَ came into the blessed court of the Holy ر‎5َ‎ االلهُ‏Prophet صَ‏ َّ! االلهُ‏ تَعَالىٰ‏ ‏َلَيْهِ‏ وَاٰلِهٖ‏ وَسَلَّم and iterated the desire of the Aṣḥāb-e-Ṣuffaĥ, the Knower of theUnseen, the Prophet صَ‏ َّ! االلهُ‏ تَعَالىٰ‏ ‏َلَيْهِ‏ وَاٰلِهٖ‏ وَسَلَّم told him, ‘Go and tell them that they have just eatenتَعَالىٰ‏ عَنْهُ‏ some meat.’ When Sayyidunā Zayd Bin Šābitَ relayed the message of the ر‎5َ‎ االلهُ‏to them, they swore that they had not eaten meat for several صَ‏ َّ! االلهتَعَالىٰ‏ عَنْهُ‏ days. Sayyidunā Zayd Bin Šābitَ went back to the holy court and requested ر‎5َ‎ االلهُ‏again for some meat. The Holy Prophet صَ‏ َّ! االلهُ‏ تَعَالىٰ‏ ‏َلَيْهِ‏ وَاٰلِهٖ‏ وَسَلَّم said the same thing, ‘They justتَعَالىٰ‏ عَنْهُ‏ ate some meat.’ Sayyidunā Zayd Bin Šābitَ came back and relayed the same ر‎5َ‎ االلهُ‏صَ‏ َّ! االلهُ‏ تَعَالىٰ‏ ‏َلَيْهِ‏ وَاٰلِهٖ‏ وَسَلَّم message. That time all the Aṣḥāb-e-Ṣuffaĥ went to ask the Holy Prophetاالله تَعَالىٰ‏ ‏َلَيْهِ‏ وَاٰلِهٖ‏ وَسَلَّم themselves. The Noble Prophetُsaid, ‘You just ate your brother’s flesh صَ‏ َّ!and the traces of the meat are still in your teeth. Spit and have a look at the redness ofتَعَالىٰ‏ ‏َلَيْهِ‏ وَاٰلِهٖ‏ وَسَلَّم Prophetُthe flesh.’ Thereupon, they did exactly and blood was all over (in their saliva). They allrepented, recanted their words, and asked Sayyidunā Zayd Bin Šābit ر‎5َ‎ االلهُ‏ تَعَالىٰ‏ عَنْهُ‏ َ to forgivethem. (Tanbīĥ-ul-Ghāfilīn, pp. 86)Dwellers of Hell eating the dead carcassSayyidunā ‘Abdullāĥ Bin ‘Abbās ال مَا َ has reported that the Beloved and BlessedProphet صَ‏ َّ! االلهُ‏ تَعَالىٰ‏ ‏َلَيْهِ‏ وَاٰلِهٖ‏ وَسَلَّم saw dwellers of Hell on Layla-tul-Mi’rāj (the Night of Ascension)who were eating a dead carcass (of a person). The Holy Prophet صَ‏ َّ! االلهُ‏ تَعَالىٰ‏ ‏َلَيْهِ‏ وَاٰلِهٖ‏ وَسَلَّم asked,‘Jibrīl! Who are these people?’ Angel Jibrīl عَلَيْهِ‏ السَّلاَ‏ م replied, ‘They are those who wouldeat peoples’ flesh.’ The Prophet صَ‏ َّ! االلهُ‏ تَعَالىٰ‏ ‏َلَيْهِ‏ وَاٰلِهٖ‏ وَسَلَّم also saw a person who was extremely redتَعَالىٰ‏ ‏َلَيْهِ‏ وَاٰلِهٖ‏ وَسَلَّم in colour and had blue eyes. Heُwas. as to who he عَلَيْهِ‏ السَّلاَ‏ م asked Jibrīl صَ‏ َّ! االله لهُ‏ تَعَالىٰ‏ ‏َعنْ‏ ‏ُه ر‎5َ‎Jibrīl عَلَيْهِ‏ السَّلاَ‏ م replied, ‘He is the one who severed the legs of the she-camel of ProphetSayyidunā Ṣāliḥ عَلَيْهِ‏ الصَّ‏ لٰوة ُ وَالسَّلاَ‏ م .’ (Musnad Imām Aḥmad, vol. 1, pp. 553, Ḥadīš 2324)
