Deer, foxes, raccoons, hawks,owls, quail and innumerable songbirds findhomes in the woods, fields and marsh thatsurround the campus. Noxontown Pondand Appoquinimink Creek host herons,egrets and ospreys, along with their prey- dozens of species of fish, reptiles, crustaceansand amphibians. In recent years,two families of American bald eagles havenested in towering tulip poplars on thebanks of these waterways. From Septemberthrough February, thousands of Canadageese, snow geese and swans descendupon the area, feeding in the cornfields andrafting at night on the ponds.Fall lingers and springcomes early in Delaware.Most consider these seasonsthe most beautiful times of the year here.Although winters are usually short, theycan be cold. We hope for at least a week ortwo of ice-skating and occasional blizzardsto enliven our winter days.St. Andrew's is a fully residentialcommunity; all students board and everymember of the faculty lives on School property.We live and work in close proximityand share in the intimacy and support thatthis community provides. Because of this,our campus is an important part of theSt. Andrew's experience.
