Employment CertificateWhen you start to work, your employer will give you an employment certificatewhich you must fill it in and keep a copy of it with you at all times. This certificateincludes your personal details as well as the date when you started working foryour employer. Your employer is obliged by law to submit this certificate to ourServices.Benefits<strong>The</strong> <strong>Scheme</strong> provides for the following benefits:Kind of benefitMaternity GrantBeneficiaries and descriptionPayable to women either employed, self-employed orvoluntary contributor based on their or their husband’scontributions.Funeral GrantSickness BenefitUnemploymentBenefitMaternity AllowanceOrphan’s BenefitPayable for the death of employed, self-employed, voluntarycontributors, pensioners and dependents of pensioners.Funeral grant is payable to the survived spouse or to theperson undertaken the funeral expenses.Payable to employed, self-employed and voluntarycontributors working in non-EU member states in theservice of Cypriot employers. <strong>The</strong> period for which sicknessbenefit is paid cannot exceed 156 days for each period ofinterruption of employment.Payable to employed and voluntary contributors working innon-EU member states in the service of Cypriot Employers.<strong>The</strong> period during which unemployment benefit is payablecannot exceed 156 days for each period of unemployment.Payable to employed, self-employed and voluntary insuredwomen working in non-EU member states in the serviceof Cypriot Employers. Maternity allowance is payable for aperiod of 18 weeks.Payable to employed, self-employed and voluntary contributors.In the case where the orphan is under the age of 15, or isincapable of acting regardless of age, the benefit is paid tothe person who is financially provided for him/her. In all othercases the benefit is payable to the orphan. <strong>The</strong> benefit ispaid until the orphan becomes an adult. Where the orphan isincapable of self-support, the benefit is paid for life.4
