Other activists present at the March whowere later involved in the Yippie network include Mobe chairman Dellinger, who workedwith them on plans for the Chicago demonstrations <strong>of</strong> August, 1968, and Morea, whoseUATW/MF members participated at the Grand Central Station Yip-In in March, 1968.Many student activists from SDS, and several thousand hippie flower children—bothgroups who also participated in Yippie activities in Chicago and New York—demonstrated at the March. <strong>The</strong> diversity <strong>of</strong> these demonstrators and their activistagendas reflect the range and strength <strong>of</strong> Mobe’s network, which connected the seriousand organized nature <strong>of</strong> SDS to the radical anarchism <strong>of</strong> UATW/MF, the do-your-ownthingspirit <strong>of</strong> the hippies, and the theatrical antics <strong>of</strong> the soon-to-be Yippies. In fact,Mobe’s network served as a model for the kind <strong>of</strong> networking that the Yippies wouldlater champion.As an umbrella group, Mobe networked with a wide range <strong>of</strong> anti-warorganizations. For example, there was Resist, a national organization <strong>of</strong> activists whobelieved it was their “moral duty” to oppose the war and support draft resisters by raisingmoney for bail funds and legal defense (Resist 163-164). <strong>The</strong> Mobe network alsoincluded other conscientious objectors, such as the Catholic Worker, the Committee forNonviolent Action, the Student Peace Union, and the War Resisters League (CatholicWorker et al 160). In his historical novel about the Pentagon March, <strong>The</strong> Armies <strong>of</strong> theNight, Mailer describes the variety <strong>of</strong> protesters and protest groups at the rally:66
