Latino Fashion Week® |LFW| is the only Fashion Week in the United States created to support the talent
of local, national and international Latino designers; and the premier resource institution for those in the
Latino Fashion Industry. “By Latinos, For Everyone.”
In its sixth year, LATINO FASHION WEEK® will make history by premiering the 2012
Tour with the theme Images of Fashion. The tour includes Dallas, Chicago and Miami,
honoring all the photographers and videographers that create Images of Fashion.
Highlighted in the Chicago exhibit is globally renowned fashion photographer Daniel
Garriga, who is nationally and internationally involved in creating the face of fashion
through the images he creates. This five-day event will include runway shows, celebrity appearances, VIP
receptions, a one-day Fashion Lounge and Expo, and much more.
Daniel Garriga, fashion/celebrity/advertising New York based photographer and director, will be the focus
of a solo exhibition as part of Latino Fashion Week. Chicago curator, Sergio Gomez will present Garriga's
photographic vision, which now expands from the U.S. to Europe, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing. As a
photographer and commercial director born in Barcelona (Spain), Daniel Garriga grew up with a strong
artistic heritage. He has been featured numerous times as the celebrity photographer on hit fashion TV
series America’s Next Top Model and Project Runway. Editorial clients include Vogue, Glamour, Marie
Claire, Seventeen, and GQ Magazine just to name a few.

Arabel Alva Rosales, J.D.
Arabel Alva Rosales, J.D., is an entrepreneur that has
been described in Chicago Magazine as a “Renaissance
Woman” because of her ability to discuss concerns on
Wall Street, global issues and what is happening in our
communities. She is also recognized for having a critical
eye for art and fashion. Her life is a great representation
of the American success story. With her parents being of
Mexican descent, they instilled being bilingual/bicultural
with a strong work ethic. She is also co-owner and
Managing Producer of Latino Fashion Week, the only full

week dedicated to Latino Fashion in the country. “This endeavor has allowed me to use my
business acumen, my wide variety of contacts, and my creative side to its fullest,” says Arabel.
The production is unlike any other, being the only in the world that showcases solely local and
international Latino designers. She also oversees AAR & Assocs., Ltd., a full breadth technology
firm with more than a decade under its belt, as the President and CEO.
Cesar Rolon, Jr.
Cesar Rolon is the CEO of Imagen Marketing Consultants and as such, his list of clientele
continues to grow. As a Puerto Rican, the Latino culture has always played a large role in Rolon’s
life. He paired this interest with his expertise in fashion in October of 2007, alongside Arabel
Alva Rosales, when they launched the 1 st Chicago Latino Fashion Week, the only one of its kind
in the United States. The week long production has since been filled with star studded events
and outstanding fashion. Since its inception, local designers have received national recognition,
awards, product placement and contracts with Macy’s Department stores. Cesar boasts many
past and present affiliations including, Chicago Latino Film Festival, Illinois Latino State
Legislative Caucus, Aspira of Illinois, LULAC Midwest, YMCA of Chicago, Chicago Hispanic Health
Coalition, Chicago Public Schools, the Greater North Michigan Avenue Association and the
National Association of Recording Arts and Sciences. Cesar has obtained and worked with clients
such as: Miller Brewing Company, Coca Cola, Pepsi Cola, Univision Television Variety Show

Andrea Castro
FASHION DESIGNERS
Andrea Castro was born in Bogotá, Colombia, and began to study fashion
design at the “Istituo Europeo di Design” of Milan. After getting a Master’s
degree in marketing, merchandising and business communication
techniques, the designer has worked in the design and production
department of renowned brands like Gianfranco Ferrè, D&G, Benetton,
Maurizio Pecoraro, Lonsdale, Tricot Chic, Prenatal, and Killer Loop, among
others. With all her experience, the designer launched her own fashion
brand called “Experimental Couture by Andrea Castro” during Milan fashion
week in September 2008. Her brand represents strictly experimental
creations, for in an exploratory nature, creativity is essential, demonstrating
the multi-functionality of her designs.
Argemiro Sierra
Hailing from Medellin, after years spent designing clothes for private
companies, Argemiro Sierra took the leap and created his own self-titled
line. Having since landed runways in France, Germany, Mexico and the
United States in addition to appearing at every major Colombian fashion
show, the decision has proved cogent. Argemiro’s sleek, simple designs
transcend cheap fads and 6-month trends, exposing individuality from
within rather than having it superficially imposed.
He describes his typical consumer as someone wanting to show a hint of
seduction without being too forward; an effortless sexiness. You can find his
newest collections at his flagship store in Medellin, as well as in Bogota,
Cali, and Bucaramanga.
Claudia Urrutia
Claudia Urrutia was born in San Juan Del Rio, Durango, México. She came
to the U.S. when she was 18. With her mother’s help, she quickly learned
how to make clothes. In 2007, she Graduated from International Academy
of Design and Technology. Later that same year, she won first place at a
contest sponsored by the Human Society in a Faux-Fur Coat. Since then,
she’s been working with Faux-fur fabrics. Ms. Urrutia’s collection has been
showcased at Chicago Latino Fashion week and she has held numerous
trunk shows and fashion shows in Aurora. She recently presented her new
Winter Collection at “La Catrina Fashion Show 2012” at the National
Museum of Mexican Art. Aside from working with faux fur, she also designs
business attire and evening gowns.
Eva Chen
How nice it will be if everyone dresses in elegant, gorgeous and pretty clothes
everyday and everywhere! This is the vision of Eva Chen. Grown up in an
artistic family Eva started to learn Erhu, dancing and drawing when she was
6 years old. Later she gained professional art and fashion study at a fine art
institute. During the past 20 years she traveled and lived relatively in
Singapore and Los Angles, New York and Europe before she settled down in
Vancouver, Canada in 2000. Living in overseas opened her eyes and
enriched her experiences in pursuing beauty of art and fashion. She has
absorbed the merit of different culture and put them into her design and
made her fashion very international. Eva Chen's slim hipped styles features
luxurious and lace trim. Feathered hats were worn by all the models. Many
pieces resonated with old world glamour.

Evelyn Amador
FASHION DESIGNERS
Evelyn Amador was born in Caracas, Venezuela. Her parents migrated from
Spain to Venezuela before she was born. Growing up with both, Venezuelan
and Spanish cultures play a leading part designing elegant Latin inspired
creations since an early age. Evelyn was captivated by fashion since
childhood. But it wasn’t until 2004, after going to law school in her native
Venezuela that she decided to go back to her passion of becoming a fashion
designer. Her designs are elegant, minimalist, and bold, creating swimwear
that are cut-to-the-curve with soft edges. Evelyn started in the fashion
business designing her own jewelry line in the fall of 2007. She is expanding
her business with the launch of her new swimwear line, EVA, which is
inspired by the best of two worlds, fusing a cultural myriad of fashion
influences such as the fun, feminine, and color of the Caribbean, and the
European elegance of Spain. This gives her sophisticated designs a
distinctive and modern edge.
Gabriela Moya
Gabriela Moya is a New York City designer whose passion is to fuse her love
for art and her interest in fashion in singular collaborations with
contemporary artists, creating extraordinary textiles and unique accessories
for her eponymous line. Moya’s designs combine structural and
architectural construction with a modern twist, both organic and poetic,
utilizing her original art riffs to evoke a fresh yet elegant look. She plays
with layering and mixes prints and solids in a harmonious and fluid manner,
blending soft and hard fabrics like silk and leather to create stunning
textures. Gabriela Moya was born in the United States to Cuban parents.
She attained her BA in Art History from Rutgers University before moving to
Paris to study Fashion Design at L'Ecole Supérieure des Arts et Techniques
de la Mode (ESMOD). She worked in a variety of fashion houses including
Felipe Oliveira Baptista, Burfitt and Proenza Schouler until she began to
design and produce her own line in late 2011.
Nelissa Carrillo
Born and raised in Chicago Illinois, Nelissa has always had an interest in art.
From a very early age she was enrolled in the Northern Indiana Arts
Association taking a wide variety of the arts; everything from airbrushing to
3D architecture. Her love for fashion started in middle school when she
began fashion sketching and following the couture shows. Immediately after
high school Nelissa attended and graduated with a Fashion Design degree
from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) in Los
Angeles, “The west coast home of Project Runway”. Nelissa’s Mexican
background influences her work every day from the color stories to her
hand beadwork. She grabs inspiration from music, nature and painted art
works.

Noelia Cruz
FASHION DESIGNERS
In the year 2009, Noelia Cruz decided to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a
fashion designer. She used to watch her great-grandma sew handmade fabric
flowers one by one until a great quilt was done. These traditions were enriched by
a childhood filled with colors from the Caribbean and a close relationship with her
nature surroundings. Taking these stimuli with her strong background in the arts
as inspiration, Noelia decided to pursue education in fashion at the Escuela de
Diseño Lisa Thon, and Escuela de Artes Plásticas de Puerto Rico “School of Fine
Arts”. The School of the Art Insitute of Chicago SAIC has awarded Noelia with a
'Distinguished Scholar Merit Scholarship.' Noelia has been an assistant for
designers Vilma Martínez, Diana Vázquez and more. Noelia will present the
Dangerous Curves Ahead collection at the Latino Fashion Week opening night
Currently she works in the development and confection of Thaïs by Noelia Cruz
Couture Line, Bridal Line, Cruise/Resort Line and Belle Nani, a line for curvy
shapes.
Personal Privilege Boutique
Established in 2007
Personal Privilege boutique was started by celebrity stylist Tracy Lemke that has
dressed athletic superstars like Detroit Tigers player Octavio Dotel, Lakers player
Shannon Brown, Detroit Pistons player Corey Maggette, Baltimore Orioles Adam
Jones ,Cubs player Carlos Marmol & Others. She started styling out of her loft &
moved on to a storefront where she could house all of her designs. She decided
that she would offer her services to others in need of fashion direction. So she
came up with the name Personal Privilege, & it means that it is her & her staff's
privilege to personally help the customer & make them feel warm & welcome
because the client is the most important person & should be serviced with great
gratitude!
Ronald Rodriguez
Ronald is a very enterprising young man, even in his speech and
references to his dreams and goals. Most of the time, he has had to work
behind the scenes with others designers from Puerto Rico. His creations
are made to order, and he has been dedicated to making wedding gowns
and contest dresses. It has been difficult for him to highlight his creativity
as a designer to its fullest and to showcase his passion for fashion,
because of the time he spends in his other career.
This young man highly respected the work of Oscar de la Renta, Carolina
Herrera and Harry Robles. In his collection, to be presented on October
9th, will be designs that are inspired by the delicacy and versatility of lace.
"I want to convey in my designs that lace does not necessarily make
women look older, and that it can also project femininity and sensuality,"
exclaimed the designer. His collection is expected to dazzle the audience
and open many doors to achieve his dream of bringing his creations to the
world. Finally he has the opportunity to have a platform on which to stand
out as a designer and passionate fan of fashion.

Sadia Pattison
FASHION DESIGNERS
Sophisticated. Luxurious. Chic. This is what speaks the beauty behind Sofia
Azzad by Sadia Pattison. The talented Chicago designer’s ready-to-wear
brand blends chic sophistication with bold allure. Believing that every
woman deserves the best, Sadia seeks the highest standards in style with
imported fine silks, chiffon, and french lace. Each Sofia Azzad dress is handmade
in Chicago with a keen attention to detail and finish.
Sadia is an engineer by trade who has designed since she was a little girl.
Being a self-taught designer gives her an edge in the luxury market. What
inspires her designs is the beauty of the world around her. She’s passionate
about design and philanthropy. Portion of sales are donated to the United
Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and their efforts to assist the
underprivileged.
Yirko Sivirich
In 2008, Yirko launched his own brand of "The Closet," making an
immediate hit with the fashion market increasingly demanding the country.
Yirko is called by various media including TV, print and digital publications
to submit their creations in various campaigns, fashion editorials and
fashion shows with top models from Peru. After studying at the prestigious
fashion school Mod'Art (Peru), he started doing shows in local and
international gateways, such as Chile and Argentina. This is where Yirko
was selected as a semifinalist for the international program "Project Runway
"(Spanish version), and after that, he began to dress the most important
figures of local television.

Carlos Anaya Journalist/Multimedia Producer
CELEBRITY GUESTS
Carlos Anaya, known as the Latino Ryan Seacrest, has been an entertainment
contributor for NBC/Telemundo and other media outlets. He offers services as
a reporter, host, multimedia-content producer, and social media influencer.
He is the Managing Editor for My Lifestyle Magazine, the first boutique
publication for bicultural chic Latinos in New York City. He is the producer of
Orgullo Latino, the first LGBT Latino Leadership Program on a national
platform airing on more than 255 stations for public television stations
nationwide for IN THE LIFE. Carlos Anaya has received prestigious awards:
The GLAAD Award for best Spanish Journalism, The Council of The New York
City and O.S.C.O Foundation Fusion Award for promoting, publishing and
strengthening the cultural and social values of the LGBT Hispanic community
in the tri-state area, and the Circle of Hearts Humanitarian Award for two
consecutive years. Anaya has a degree in Journalism and Television
Production from Florida International University in Miami, FL (1999). He lives
in New York City. He is a member of the National Association of Hispanic
Journalists.
Christian Carabias Actor/Model
Christian Carabias always knew he was meant for the entertainment industry.
At the age of 18, he joined the musical group Tierra Cero (Earth Zero), where
he recorded three successful albums with the record company BMG and
toured from Mexico to Argentina. After leaving the group, Christian
discovered a passion for acting while studying at the most prestigious
television and acting school in Mexico, Televisa y Argos. Christian has
participated in a diverse range of soap operas including “Valeria,”
“Protangonistas de Novela,” “Decisiones,” “Mi Querida Isabel,” “Amigos por
Siempre,” “Mujer: Casos de la Vida Real” and “Mas Sabe el Diablo” (his most
recent soap opera).
Elsa Chumacero Miss Illinois Latina 2012
Elsa Chumacero was born in Jalisco, Mexico and she's 22 years old. Currently
she's Miss Illinois Latina 2012 and official face of Sin Cosmetics. She has lived
here in the US for 12 years and she's a massage therapist. Horseback riding
is her passion. Painting arts and classical music fascinates her. Sometimes
she practices belly dance and oil painting She is against animal cruelty. She
loves fashion and modeling industry as well as acting. She is a very social and
down to earth person. One of the things that she does all day long is eat. She
loves traveling and her biggest desire is to visit Egypt and Morocco. Her
favorite book it's "Tristan & Isolde" By Richard Wagner. Her favorite football
team are the BEARS and from Mexican soccer, Las Chivas.

Paola Cossyleon Miss Teen Illinois Latina 2012
Paola Cossyleon, Miss Teen Illinois Latina 18, of Mexican Descent is
currently working towards a Public Relations and Communications degree.
She is also the official image of the Illinois based cosmetic line, Sin
Cosmetics by Hernan Rivera. She currently works as a volunteer activist
with the bettering of her community for the Do Something Organization
with a focus on Teen Bullying. She shows her support for the arts by being
active within the Dance and Theater community for 14 years and has
performed for various dance shows and expos in Chicago and adjacent
cities. As a representative of the Illinois Latino youth she strives by example
to promote positivity, education and motivate the young people of her
home state to excel.

Jomari Goyso has dedicated his life to the world of the image, almost as
soon as he left the bosom of his family at 13 years old. He was born in La
Rioja, Spain. His career began at age 15, when he became a hairdresser,
make-up artist, and dancer of the “Fangoria” group led by the famous
Spanish singer “Alaska.” Naomi Campbell was one of the first top models to
recognize his talent. At age 17, he obtained an exclusive contract for
“Loreal Fashion Week” in Madrid and Paris. For 7 years, he worked for the
renowned company and worked with famous models. He moved to Los
Angeles and since then has worked with all kinds of personalities, including
Paz Vega, Penélope Cruz, Salma Hayek, and many others. He has
participated in the most important events in the world of celebrity (Oscars,
Golden Globes, MTV Awards and more), as well as having worked on
editorials and covers of major magazines. Jomari has also received awards

Carolina Ramirez was born in Cali, Colombia. Her career started when she
was 15 years old modeling for local designer agencies. Upon her arrival in
the United States, in addition to her university studies, she attended acting
classes in an agency where she met very important people that helped her
shape her future. In 2010, she participated in a prestigious beauty contest
called "Nuestra Belleza Latina," where she excelled due to her academic
background, grace, elegance, and professional challenges. In addition, she
was honored to be among the six finalists in the category for the "50 most
beautiful" in "People en Español" magazine. After all the hard work and
dedication, Carolina Ramirez manages to become the first finalist for
"Nuestra Belleza Latina 2010" beauty pageant, and obtained a contract with
the distinguished television broadcasting company "Univision." Her most
recent modeling work was in "Premios Juventud," presenting the awards to
Antonio Banderas, Ricky Martin and a few others. Today, Carolina Ramirez

Erick Jimenez Sabater Mister Universe Model 2012
Heriberto de Jesús Jiménez Sabater, better known as Erick Sabater, is a
young talented Dominican, born in the city of Santiago. Erick is not only a
featured model in his country, but he also acts and presents on television.
At 17, he moved to Santo Domingo in search of new opportunities to
pursue a career as a model and continue his studies in marketing at
University, which were put on hold by work commitments, but he has plans
to return. His career in modeling begin at the renowned Agency of Luis
Menier, who supported him and boosted his talent to become the image of
advertising campaigns for well-known brands in the Dominican Republic, as
well as to participate in the most important runway shows in the country
with national and international designers, as is the case of Dominicana
Moda and Dominican Republic Fashion Week.
He was invited to participate in Mister Universe 2012 by Mr. Robert Flores,
who saw in Erick talent and the physical qualities needed to compete for
this important title in the world of professional modeling. Among 27
representatives from different countries of the world, Erick was named the

Nancy To, a first generation born Chicago native to immigrant parents, was

that any dream can be achieved through education, Nancy attended the
University of Illinois at Chicago before continuing to pursue her goal of
becoming a teacher with her Master’s in Education at Saint Xavier
University. When not destroying bridges or throwing egg droppers off the
bleachers with her physics students, Nancy is always finding ways to help
support her community. As Miss Illinois United States 2012, Nancy strives

Patrick is a fashion model, entrepreneur, and business owner. Patrick
"Fearless" Seller was born in Indianapolis in 1991. He began his career as
an actor at age 11 and booked many commercials and print ads in the city
of Chicago. At 14, his family purchased a Subway restaurant, where he
worked for several years before becoming the Co-Owner in 2012.
After being discovered by fashion photographer, Nathan Beckner, Patrick

Andy Vargas

crossover artist with a conviction for Latin music and culture. As the lead
vocalist of SANTANA, his passionate voice and stage presence blend his
deep roots of old world Latin music with modern day Latin style.
Influenced by his father Javier Vargas, Andy was exposed to music at the
early age of three years old. By the time he was seven, he began to

Mexico. At age 23, this was her second shot at the crown, having achieved a 2nd
Runner-Up placement in her previous attempt as Miss Rhode Island Latina 2007 and
proving that you can accomplish your goals with hard work, discipline and
perseverance. The bright and beautiful new titleholder speaks fluent English and
Spanish, has a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development & Family Studies, and
presently works as an Investigator for the Identity Theft Protection Unit of the State
Attorney’s Office in Rhode Island. Sasha followed her national title win just one
week later with a proud sixth place finish at the international finals and also received
the important continental queen award for North America and the Caribbean that
distinguishes her for academic excellence and outstanding life achievements.

Jill Glaser is a freelance media makeup artist. She received her formal training
at Columbia College, Chicago, Illinois. She continues to train with legendary
New York City and Los Angeles-based makeup artists, including Linda Mason,
Eve Pearl, Kevin James Bennett, James Vincent, Tom Devlin and Maurice Stein.
Jill is considered to be an expert in makeup and hairstyling for the demands of
high definition television, film, video and print. A former corporate attorney, Jill
is most comfortable in the commercial, corporate media makeup. However, Jill
is skilled and freelances in all aspects of event, media, theatrical, and
camouflage makeup.
In 2006, in order to answer the need for superior, formal training in Chicago,
Jill founded Make Up First ® School of Makeup Artistry (the “School”). Jill
currently teaches the Media, Airbrush and some of the other courses at the
School. In 2012, Jill incorporated Artists by Make Up First, LLC, an agency for
makeup artists, hair stylists, nail technicians and wardrobe. In having done so,
Jill serves not only as an educator, but also, more importantly, as an avenue
for those aspiring makeup artists who wish to pursue their passion.

Educator and Bridal Specialist. Fannie routinely attends as well as leads
professionally sponsored courses in corrective color.For over a decade now,
Fannie has created hair and makeup on set for models and celebrities
appearing in Chicago Magazine advertisements and Today’s Chicago Woman
magazine. She has styled models for numerous productions including beauty
pageants in Chicago and also at the National Championship levels. Starting
in1999, and currently, Fannie has been hired to appear on stage as a stylist
performer and instructor for hair color and hair styling/cutting for the hair
industry all over the world. By invitation, on behalf of her Salon, Colorrific
Coiffure, Fannie has entered her salon in Hair Wars, a Chicago, city and
suburban-wide Hair Salon competition almost each year since 2005. She won
1st place, second place and third place awards, multiple times. In 2009, as
Chicago’s representative, Fannie participated in a National Hair Wars Salon
competition in Las Vegas, involving stylists and salons from ten US cities, and
again will represent Chicago in December 2012 in the National Hair Wars
competition in Las Vegas. Fannie happily donates her time and talents to
cancer patients. She sponsors children in need and is a wonderfully
philanthropic human being.

Mark Anthony Aguilar was born & raised in Lincoln Park, Chicago. He graduated
from Illinois State University with a degree in Construction Management. While at
Illinois State Mark lead the Illinois State Redbirds as their baseball shortstop.
After graduating he decided to return to Chicago and pursue a career path as a
Construction Project Manager & enhance Chicago’s skyline.Mark managed
construction projects for the leading general contractors in the city. While working
for Turner Construction, Walsh Construction & Morse Diesel International Mark
managed high profile projects such as the Hotel Sofitel, The New Cook County
Hospital & misc. Chicago Public Schools Mark started Aguilar Construction
Corporation in 2001 & has managed condo, multi unit & commercial spaces in
TRUMP Tower, AQUA Tower, Mies van der Rohe buildings & many other prestigious
buildings in the city. One of Mark’s recent projects is a 12 page spread currently
featured in this 2012 fall issue of Chicago Home & Garden for top interior designer
Lukas Machnik. Mark also completed a commercial space that was part of the
