CARE &MaintenanceAs with all appliances, proper care and maintenancewill keep them in top operating condition andprolong their life. Your new gas barbecue is noexception. By following these cleaning procedureson a timely basis, your barbecue will be kept cleanand working properly with minimum effort.Flash-BackSpiders and small insects occasionally spin webs ormake nests in the burner tubes during warehousingand transit. These webs can lead to a gas flowobstruction which could result in a fire in and aroundthe burner tubes. Cleaning with a soft brush beforeuse and at least every six months is recommended. This type of fire is known as ‘FLASH-BACK’ and cancause serious damage to your barbecue and createan unsafe operating condition for the user. Althoughan obstructed burner tube is not the only cause of‘FLASH-BACK’ it is the most common cause andfrequent inspection and cleaning of the burner tubesis necessary. If fire occurs in and around the burner, immediatelyturn off gas at its source and turn the burner controlto ‘OFF’, wait until the barbecue has cooled, thenclean the burner tubes and burner ports.Cleaning the Grill PlatesAfter cooking, turn burner control to OFF andlet barbecue cool before attempting to clean thegrill plates. Before first use and periodically, it issuggested that you wash the grill plates in a mildsoap and warm water solution. You can use a washcloth to clean your barbecue plates.Your barbecue is supplied with a satin enamel grilland plate. Correct use and care of the cookingsurface is important to ensure trouble free cooking. To ensure the satin enamel finish is not scratched werecommend that you do not use metal utensils orcut food directly on the cooking surface. Do not usepans on the cooking surface. Do not overheat thecooking surface with the hood down or with no foodon the cooking surface.Clean thoroughly while cooking surface is cooling.Do not leave food on the cooking surface when notin use.Cleaning the Drip TrayTo avoid fat or grease dripping from the barbecueremove and empty the drip tray after each use. Asmall amount of water can be placed in the drip traybefore use to help with fat removal. Wait until thedrip tray is cool to touch before disposing of contentsThe drip tray should be washed periodically in a milddetergent and warm water solution.ServiceIf the appliance cannot be adjusted to performcorrectly it should not be used until serviced orrepaired. Contact Sitro Group Australia for spareparts and service information.Care of Cooking SurfaceWarningTo avoid any flare-ups, it is recommended that the drip traybe checked and emptied regularly. Contents of the drip tray maybe very hot during cooking. If emptied during extended cookingextreme caution should be taken and direct contact by handshould be avoided at all times.
