● ● ● For Your Information A total of 60 authors participated during the second round of the tender announced by the RWE and Barrandov Studios Film Foundation this year. The number of projects presented amounted to 68 – 42 film stories and themes and 26 screenplays. “We are happy that the public has long-term interest in the foundation’s grants. The high number of projects that were submitted exceeds our most optimistic expectations. In addition, it is more than likely that the quality of the work submitted will also show improvement, as more than half of the participants already have some experience with literary preparation,” according Helena Uldrichová, a member of the č RWE and Barrandov Studios Film Foundation Executive Board. The submitted work will be evaluated over the course of the next three months by a comittee made up of five independent experts. The foundation will announce the winning project at the start of next year. ● ● ● Awards ● ● ● Just Shooting Project Producer Pantene Forward International Credit Agricole Dawson Hartford Stillking Reception Desk – Information Tel.: 267 071 122, Tel.: 267 071 111, Fax: 267 071 133, E-mail: email@example.com Press Spokesperson Dušana Chreneková, Tel.: 602 504 562, E-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org ...everything for Czech Films Helena Uldrichová, Tel.: 267 072 289, Mobile: 602 346 690, Fax: 267 072 273, E-mail: email@example.com ...everything for International Films Monika Veselá, Tel.: 267 072 025, Mobile: 602 318 760, Fax: 267 072 027, E-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org ...everything for Commercials Anna Hanzálková, Tel.: 267 072 052, Mobile: 724 339 286, Fax: 267 072 051, E-mail: email@example.com ...everything for Social Events Barrandov Productions, Daniel Jaroš, Tel.: 267 072 057, Mobile: 724 335 045, Fax: 267 073 019, E-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org Rentals of Office Space and Other Areas Viola Pospíšilová, Tel.: 267 073 126, Mobile: 602 570 666, Fax: 251 814 807, E-mail: email@example.com The family film “Maharal – tajemství Talismanu” (“Code Name Maharal”), directed by Pavel Jandourek is collecting one award after another. Since his debut in 1979, he has composed the soundtracks for more than 150 films, documentaries, serials, and theatrical performances. These include “Je třeba zabít Sekala” (“Sekal Has to Die”) and the Czech film “O rodičích a dětech” (“Of Parents and Children”). The music for the later was recorded by the Polish composer at the Smečky Recording Studio. This isn’t the first time you’ve worked with director Vladimír Michálek. How did this come about? It’s hard to pinpoint it… it is happy, sad, and playful. I really think the viewers will enjoy it. How did you find working at Smečky? Although I have worked in Prague on numerous occasions, this was my first time at Smečky. I was totally satisfied. The studio’s orchestra musicians are excellent. They are ideal to work with and very disciplined. Both the communications and environment are perfect. I will definitely be returning in the future. Barrandov Studios has lent unique photographs of female stars from 1930s and 1940s Czech cinematography to the Platýz Café in Prague. The pictures, of which there are more than forty, capture these true celebrities of their time during moments of intense concentration and emotional performance. Just to name a few, they include Marie Glázrová in František Čáp’s “Babička” (“The Grandmother”), Adina Mandlová in Ladislav Brom’s “Harmonika” (“The Accordion”), and Lída Baarová in Otakar Vavra’s “Maskovaná milenka” “Masked Paramour”. The exhibit titled “Czech Silver Screen Beauties – 1933-1945” can be seen until January 2008. ● ● ● barrandov studio info
