PMH1 Fisheries Compensation Monitoring QEP = Triton Environmental Consultants Year 1: Deer Lake Brook, Como Creek, Burnaby LakeTributaries, and planting along Brunette River Year 2: Mundy and Hjorth CreekPMH1 –IAERC 2012‐07‐25

PMH1 Fisheries Compensation MonitoringYear 1 results for Mundy and Hjorth Creek No construction or intrinsic deficiencies were identified at Mundyor Hjorth during first year of monitoring. Coho and Stickleback captured utilizing habitats at Mundy. Salmonids not captured at Hjorth and suspected to beattributable to downstream barrier at 104 Avenue road crossing. Desired effects being met and very optimistic of the habitatpotential as these compensation areas mature.PMH1 –IAERC 2012‐07‐25

PMH1 Wildlife Effectiveness Monitoring QEP = EBB Environmental Consultants Year 1: Hjorth Creek monitoring completed; Year 2 monitoringhas commenced. Projected completion for other habitats being monitored: 2013: Gaglardi Interchange - Buena Vista Creek 2014: Willingdon Interchange – Still Creek Projected completion for wildlife culverts being monitored: 2012: Como and Lubbocks CreekPMH1 –IAERC 2012‐07‐25

PMH1 Wildlife Effectiveness MonitoringPreliminary i Year 1 results for Hjorth Creek Three variables have indicated a significant change frombaseline:1) Increase and Dragonfly abundance2) Increase in native vegetation abundance3) Decrease in wildlife movement through culvert All other variables being monitored do not show signficantchange.PMH1 –IAERC 2012‐07‐25

PMH1 Wildlife Effectiveness MonitoringPreliminary i Year 1 results for Hjorth Creek With exception of wildlife passage through culverts at Hjorth thedesired effects are currently being met. Likely residual influence of construction affecting wildlifepassage through culverts: Take time for wildlife populations in area to re-establish Vegetation still needs to mature Takes time for wildlife to “learn” new passage ways but arecreatures of habitat and once learned will repeatedly use.PMH1 –IAERC 2012‐07‐25

PMH1 Wildlife Effectiveness Monitoring Monitoring report will be posted on the FTP site for sharing ofinformation once finalized Sharing of wildlife information or involvement in the wildlifemonitoring program – Coordinate with K/FPMH1 –IAERC 2012‐07‐25
