<strong>Environmental</strong> <strong>Policy</strong>for <strong>Vygon</strong> Ecouen (Modified in November 2002)Customer Care<strong>Vygon</strong> recognises it’s legal and moral obligationin relation to waste of its products, their lifestyleand related packaging. <strong>Vygon</strong> will work with itscustomers assisting them in meeting their wastedisposal responsibilities. <strong>Vygon</strong> recognises that itsproducts fall within groups A and B of HTM 07-01: SafeManagement of Healthcare Waste.Meeting this challenge requires:l An efficient regulation monitoring system that ensures full compliance with all current environmentalregulations;l Minimisation of industrial effect on, and risks to, the environment with the goal of preventingaccidents and contamination;l Improved waste management within the company;l Awareness-raising efforts and training employees;l An open dialogue with concerned parties and the public based on improved disseminationof information.All these actions are carried out as part of a continuous improvement approach.This is a top priority area to which I declare my commitment in the name of all <strong>Vygon</strong>employees.Stéphane REGNAULTPresident of the Board<strong>Vygon</strong> UK Action PlanAs part of this ongoing commitment to the environment, <strong>Vygon</strong> worked with the John Pooley Consultancy, toidentify areas of concern and to develop an action plan to reduce environmental impact.To this end, three organisations - The Carbon Trust, Envirowise, and TransportEnergy visited the UK site to reviewoperations. Their comments and recommendations were as follows:CommentsIt appears that the company has taken a number ofpositive actions to reduce energy use. With a relativelylow energy spend the amount of cost and effort thatcan be sensibly allocated to energy saving is limited.However, maintaining a good level of awareness aspart of an overall environmental awareness programmewill be worthwhile.General Actionsl Assign, and publicise, formal responsibility forenvironmental issues.l Develop appropriate documented procedures,where relevant, covering energy, water waste, andother environmental issues.l Review, on a regular basis, the level of staffawareness on environment issues and take thenecessary actions following such a review.Specific ActionsEnergy & Waterl Produce a spreadsheet for checking utilityinvoices.l Prevent tampering with heating controls.l Lighting – review options for reducing lightingvoltage.l Lighting – review the level of “housekeeping” andif appropriate use stickers, posters or e-mails toremind people to turn off unnecessary lighting.Recyclingl Ensure segregation of waste is maintained.Transport & Travell Review options to “improve” journey planning andthereby reduce overall mileage of fleet.l Review options for “cleaner vehicles”
