BUILDING INTEGRATED PHOTOVOLTAICS [BIPV]
www.asola-tech.de

VITRUM ® - The product range for building
integrated solar applications
BIPV is the future technology which comprises the architectural, structural-physical and constructional
integration of PV elements into the facade. It perfectly combines design, aesthetics and a modern
architecture with environmentally friendly power generation.
PV at buildings fulfils a multitude of functions and combines
a lot of advantages. We develop and produce
customized solar laminated glass elements according
to architectural and structurally engineered standards
at our plant in Erfurt.
asola offers solar laminated glass elements up to a size
of 3,55 m x 2,15 m. Shape, size and transparency of the
elements are customizeable.
We perceive ourself as a system supplier for your tailor-made solar facade. A complete package consisting of
statistical calculation and design, supply of all electronical components - module, inverter and cable
connection - as well as DC-cable connection up to and including the in-house inverter.
Die PV at „asola buildings, VITRUM“ its function Produktfamilie & scope
• Weatherproofing
Solar laminated glass elements serve as conventional
facade elements and protect against various climatic
influences such as dampness, rain, snow and wind. Building
integrated PV elements withstand this pollution permanently,
without suffering a loss of efficiency.
• Design / Aesthetics
A versatile range of colours, measurements, shapes, degree
of transparency and fields of application enables
a multitude of scopes for design. The perfect match of
forward-looking architecture and sustainable generation
of energy.
• Thermal insulation
PV elements operate heat-insulation by reducing thermal
losses and decreasing the demand for energy.
• Sound insulation
Integrated into facades, laminated PV elements
can enhance the sound insulation considerably
(insulation rate of an average glass-glass module
is about 25 decibel)
• Sun protection
Using transparent PV elements enables to affect
the proportion of incident light and thus the thermal
radiation.
• Energy output
A solar glass element is the only construction product
that refinances itself via energy generation.
In addition a solar laminated glass element has a
positive input on the energy balance of a building.
All our products possess a „general technical approval (abZ)“
of the German Institute for Construction Technique (DIBt)
Overview of solar laminated glass elements - application areas & technology
Vertical glazing / facade
asola designs and produces the solar laminated glass element
„asola VITRUM ® Super“, available as standard size or customized
elements according to technical instructions for the application of
glazing in compliance with DIN 18008. Depending on type and grid
of the facade as well as height of construction, solar laminated glass
elements can be integrated as curtain-wall facing with air space or
facade into new or already existing buildings.
Max. surface & measurements: In principle size and
face are adjustable, a single certification is required
in case of exceeding the maximum measurements.
Thickness of glass: Thickness of the glass panes can
vary; depending on the calculated stability, elastic
deflection and wind load.
Glass configuration: A combination of several glass
types is possible.
Standards: The technical regulations in conjunction
with the respective construction standards and the
particular law applicable.
Connection technology: Integrated into the front side
for covered installation, as design element or conventionally
rear integration.
Overhead glazing
asola designs and produces solar laminated glass elements for
overhead glazing, especially for carports „asola VITRUM ® Car
(port)“ as well as clouding or sunscreen elements „asola VITRUM
Sun Secret“ – with coloured glass available - for porch roofs, winter
gardens and huge halls.
