EDUCATION: PDCA Contractor College monthly
webinars were initiated in 2011, designed to provide
opportunities for members to hear presentations
from industry and business experts. More than 200
attendees registered and participated in five webinars,
which are archived and available on the PDCA website
for future reference.

In March, more than 400 industry contractors and suppliers
gathered in Orlando, Fla., for the 2011 Painting
and Decorating Expo, a PDCA-only convention and exhibition.
Attendees participated in more than 30 educational
classes, visited the two-day vendor exhibition, and
had fun at the evening receptions provided by the three
National Champions.
In conjunction with authors Malcolm Parvey and Deborah
Alston, PDCA also produced “The Definitive Guide
to Government Contracts.” The authors attended the
Expo, where copies of the book were made available to
attendees.
GOVERNANCE & OPERATIONS: In the fall, the
PDCA Board of Directors approved new minimum
standards for Councils and Chapters that include required
annual meetings, as well as timely submission of
compliance and financial documentation information. A
new database and accounting system were implemented,
allowing for greater transparency and accessibility of
membership data to local leaders.
2012 FOCUS
Get Better. Get Smarter. Get Business.
The main focus of PDCA resource allocation in 2012
will be directed towards the promotion of increased
participation in PDCA activities. This includes providing
additional tools to local unit leaders, as well as
increased communications with members. Over the last
three years, membership benefits have been improved
and new benefits added. In 2012, PDCA National staff
will work diligently to inform members of the value of
membership through participation in educational programming,
upgrading findapainter.com profiles, and the
use and implementation of PDCA Industry Standards.
