Girls and parents from Reception, along with thosefrom forms throughout the school joining us this academic year, were warmly invited tojoin existing pupils for a Buddy trip aimed at making the settling in process as easy andenjoyable as possible.Gone fishingArts weekThis year’s wonderfully enriching programme, which welcomed a number of visitingartists and musicians, enabled girls at the Lower <strong>School</strong> to explore a range of excitingnew art forms. <strong>The</strong>y worked with typical enthusiasm on a number of projects includingmosaics, felt work and a textile wall hanging, all now proudlydisplayed in the Key Stage One playground.<strong>The</strong> week also involved trips to the Yorkshire SculpturePark and Liverpool’s Tate Modern. It cameto a close with a rousing celebrationthat included exotic sambadrumming and salsa dancing.Big fish in small pools proved rathervulnerable when pupils from the Lower<strong>School</strong> paid a visit to the new Cheshirefishing lakes in Dodleston. <strong>The</strong> girls hadgreat fun learning the art of coarse fishingand managed to hook many fish of differentvarieties. Of course, the one that justmanaged to get away was truly enormous!Lower <strong>School</strong>6A capital timeAn exciting trip through the Channel Tunnel on Eurostar soon saw year 6 in theFrench capital, the destination for their packed cultural tour earlier this year.<strong>The</strong> Eiffel Tower, Musée D’Orsay, Sacre Coeur and the cathedral at Notre Dame wereamongst the highlights visited by the girls who enjoyed the challenge of sketchingsome of the great buildings and had their own portraits drawn in Montmartre.Needless to say, the girls made the most of every opportunity to practise their Frenchin the city’s cafes and shops. Bedecked in their stylish Parisian bags and hats, theyenjoyed a trip down the River Seine, a perfect way to round off the visit.
