Chapter 4HxV and OH Simulation4.1 Monte Carlo in FOCUSIn this chapter we discuss the HxV and OH detector efficiencies measurement andthe implementation to the Monte Carlo (MC) simulation. The H, V, and OH are threedifferent sets of scintillator counter planes that are part of the FOCUS trigger system as wementioned (Chapter 2). The efficiencies measurement were done as a function of the timedata collection period which was also implemented to the MC simulation.Monte Carlo is a mathematical technique for random number generation that can beused in any process that requires it. PYTHIA [23] is a standard computer library packageknown as an event generator in the high energy physics field. This library uses the “MonteCarlo” technique in its algorithm to generate particles and its decays if any.
