President’s LeafbyBob Dolci, PresidentRotary Club of Almaden ValleyIn the midst of political conventions, barbed exchanges, and pledges of doingthings differently, we gathered as a civil club eager to live in harmony as wefollow the four way test. Even though our promised speaker was not able tomake it, we did not play the blame game, rather we took advantage of anopportunity to honor several members—for being born this week (MilesYamamoto and Mike Niimoto), for their generosity (Marianne McCarthy) and forbeing in the right place at the right time (Angie & Roger Hassler). We also hadthe opportunity to explore creative ways to handle our cash flow issues. Thanks for your input. That is what selfless friends do when faced with a challenge to demonstratetheir Rotarian spirit. Finally, we remember Bill Smith, Chuck Shepardson and Glenna Trudeau asthey recover from their illnesses and surgery. We look forward to having themin our midst soon.Yours in Rotary,Bob

If they weren't notorious before, they are now.Rotary Day on the DeltaYou may recall that back in March we had a gala fundraiser for PolioPlus whichincluded a silent auction. One of the items sold was an all day catered cruise on Bruceand Deanna Curley's powerboat, Deanna's Dream. The following couples won the auction and enjoyed the boat trip on August 27th:Mel and Kay BandanzaGary and Linda ExbergerJohn and Bobbi GuistoPaul and Norma UenakaOur crew consisted of:Angie Hassler - ChefRoger Hassler - BartenderDeanna Curley - Captain (she drove the boat)Bruce Curley - Cabin Boy It was a full day as we took a leisurely cruise down the river, enjoyed mimosas and horsd'oeuvres in the morning and then anchored in a secluded spot where we were served agourmet meal prepared by Angie along with some fine wines.Since everything was donated, the entire proceeds went to the Rotary Foundation tofurther the fight against Polio.Another Boat TripWhile we were boating on the Delta, another boat trip was happening at Lake Tahoe.Bob and Susie Seymour and Bob and Kathleen Dolci were on a classic wooden boatcruise. They had a wonderful time as well.Discussion
