12Athenaeum-Learning Resource Development Centre (LRDC)Our Library (the Athenaeum Library has more than 65,000 books, which include a large number <strong>of</strong> internationalpublications. The library has been able to provide patrons best possible services. We are able to facilitateactive learning and the smiling library staff extends helping hand to students in facilitating their learning,making the library as a Learning Centre. The budding managers get several opportunities over the academic year, to showcasetheir extracurricular talents on-stage. An open-air amphitheatre provides a venue for more informal activities.Personal Growth LABOur Personal Growth LAB caters to the need <strong>of</strong> grooming our students in the area <strong>of</strong> S<strong>of</strong>t-Skills andEmployability Enhancement. Recent studies show that companies are finding the non-work-experience younggraduates trained in the Engineering and <strong>Management</strong> areas not to be ‘job ready’ in terms <strong>of</strong> skill sets requiredin the industry making our young graduates ‘educated’ yet ‘unemployable’. According to Labor Report 2007,“about 53 per cent <strong>of</strong> employed youth suffer some degree <strong>of</strong> skill deprivation while only 8 per cent <strong>of</strong> youthare unemployed “. The report prepared by one <strong>of</strong> India’s largest staffing company, Team Lease Services furtherelaborates, citing “57 per cent <strong>of</strong> India’s youth suffering some degree <strong>of</strong> un-employability”.In light <strong>of</strong> the above, the PG Lab, a 120-hour intensive program delivering experiential learning both throughclass room teachings and outbound trainings (OBTs), is set up by the <strong>Institute</strong> to groom the students inthese major areas-Communication, S<strong>of</strong>t-kills and Employability. For an overall personality development <strong>of</strong> ourstudents, PG Lab sessions are spread across all the six trimesters, training and grooming the students, rightfrom day one till the day they are placed.SHAURYA - The E-CellShaurya (the E-Cell) <strong>of</strong> <strong>Asia</strong>-<strong>Pacific</strong> <strong>Institute</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Management</strong> gives impetus to the development <strong>of</strong> buddingentrepreneurs. It is a platform to showcase and hone one’s entrepreneurial skills. The purpose <strong>of</strong> Shaurya is toenlighten the inner self within an individual. Faculty coordinators for the cell provide guidance to the member students and help themin planning out the various entrepreneurial events.
