Loc<strong>at</strong>ion and Separ<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>of</strong> Spaces(Oil Tankers)Windows and Scuttles• Windows and scuttles facing the cargo area and <strong>at</strong> the sides <strong>of</strong> thesuperstructure and deckhouses inside the specified limits shall be <strong>of</strong>the fixed type (do not open).• Those windows and scuttles, with the exception <strong>of</strong> the bridgewindows, shall be built in accordance to the "A-60“ standard.M.Ventura <strong>SOLAS</strong> - Fire Protection 57Loc<strong>at</strong>ion and Separ<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>of</strong> Spaces(Oil Tankers)Exceptions accepted by the Administr<strong>at</strong>ion• The Administr<strong>at</strong>ion can allow access doors in bulkheads facing thecargo area, if they do not provide direct or indirect access to anyother space containing or leading to accommod<strong>at</strong>ion, control st<strong>at</strong>ionsor service areas such as galleys, pantries or workshops, or similarspaces containing sources <strong>of</strong> ignition <strong>of</strong> gases.• The boundary <strong>of</strong> such space shall be insul<strong>at</strong>ed by A60 bulkheads, withthe exception <strong>of</strong> the bulkhead facing the cargo area.• The doors and windows <strong>of</strong> the bridge may be loc<strong>at</strong>ed inside thedefined limits if they are designed to guarantee th<strong>at</strong> the bridge maybe sealed in a fast and efficient way against gases and vapors.M.Ventura <strong>SOLAS</strong> - Fire Protection 5829
