Delivering superiorperformance and value, theRLS-8350 provides 125 terabytes(native). Using typical datacompression ratios, capacitycan exceed 312 terabytes.EXPANSION READYAny RLS-8350 library can beexpanded by adding an RLS-85120,tripling capacity and performance.The total configuration can supportup to eight LTO 5 or LTO 6 SAS orfibre channel tape drives and upto 170 tapes, yielding over onepetabyte in just 16U of rack space.FastPass, the simple, robust tapemover installs in minutes and fitsentirely within the library. Tapes arepassed internally from one moduleto the next without impactingongoing read/write operations.FastPass can be installed by anend user, and the expanded libraryis completely self-calibrating.No additional power or coolingis needed.ENCRYPTION ENABLEDProtect valuable data in transit.The RLS-8350 enables use ofthe powerful AES 256-bit dataencryption capability built intoevery LTO 5 tape drive. Even firmware updatescan be implemented remotely.RELIABLE, INTELLIGENT ROBOTICSThe RLS-8350’s unique roboticmechanism is Simply Reliable bydesign. Leadscrew based roboticsusing brushless DC motors andclosed-loop servo control systemsprovide precise positioning. AllFRUs, options and tape drives areauto-discovering, and all electricaland mechanical adjustments havebeen completely eliminated. Eachtape drive is a self-connectingassembly, simply slide the drivesin or out. All service access isthrough the front or rear of the unit.EASY OPERATIONThe RLS-8350 is equipped witha high resolution, color touchscreen for local operation. Anintuitive menu-driven controlsystem provides easy-to-useinstallation, configuration andoperation information. All of theinformation, functions and controlsbuilt into the front panel displayare replicated in Q-Link. If allowedby user security policies, QualstarTechnical Support can use Q-Linkto monitor library operation toassist with configuration issuesand troubleshooting.ADVANCED CARTRIDGEMANAGEMENT AND SECURITYBarcode scanning enhancesthroughput and controls themedia inventory.
