Karen Chan is the Vice President, Marketing & Business
Development of German Pool (Hong Kong) Ltd, and Director of
German Pool Group Co Ltd. Founded in 1982, German Pool
specialises in manufacturing, wholesaling and retailing premium electrical
appliances, kitchen cabinetry and kitchen equipment. “German Pool” and
“German Pool Kitchen” are two renowned brand names and one of the most
influential players in the Electrical Appliances and Kitchen Cabinetry Industry in
Hong Kong and Mainland China. Ms Chan is responsible for planning the
company's overall business development and devising the group’s overall
marketing and branding strategy.
Ms Chan worked in United States, Canada and Hong Kong for 10 years including
Bank of America, Microsoft, Goldbeck Executive Recruiting, AIG and China Motion
Telecom. Ms Chan returned to work for the family business since 2006. In the
past few years, Ms Chan worked hard on integrating manufacturing, marketing
and branding to strengthen German Pool as an OBM. Making use of 7P Marketing
Mix as a continuous quality improvement strategy, which includes Product, Price,
Place, Promotion, People, Physical Evidence and Process, she strived to develop
German Pool to become a famous and reputable Hong Kong brand. After Ms
Chan's return to German Pool, the brand has gained plenty of awards, including
“Hong Kong Premier Brand", “Superbrands Hong Kong”, " Citation for
Outstanding Small Budget Campaign - HKMA/TVB Awards for Marketing
Excellence", “Hong Kong Proud Award” and “Q-Mark Service Award for Quality”,
etc.
In the coming year, Ms Chan's main focus will be two-fold – to plan for the
building of German Pool's Asia Pacific manufacturing headquarters development
project, a 170,000 square-metre site at the Shunde High-Tech Industrial Park;
and to develop one-stop-shop kitchen and appliances franchise business in Hong
Kong and Mainland China.

Ms Chan is devoted to a number of public assignments, including Hong Kong
Quality Brands Alliance (HKQBA) Chairman, Federation of Hong Kong Industries
Hong Kong Young Executive Council (FHKI YEC) Vice Chairman, Hong Kong Girl
Guides (HKGGA) Southern District Association Vice Chairman, Trade and

In 2009, Ms Chan was awarded Young Industrialist Award of Hong Kong by
Federation of Hong Kong Industries (FHKI). Ms Chan was awarded Certified
Personnel Consultant (CPC) professional designation from The National
Association of Personnel Services (NAPS) of the United States. Ms Chan earned
double Bachelor degrees in BBA and BEcon from the University of Washington
and double Masters Degrees in MEd and MSc Marketing from New York University
and Chinese University of Hong Kong respectively. Throughout the 2 years study
term at Chinese University of Hong Kong, Ms Chan was first in class and was
granted scholarship awards based on her outstanding academic performance for
2 consecutive years. As a strong advocate for lifelong learning, Ms Chan
continues to pursue her studies in Doctor of Business Administration and
Associate Research Fellow of Chinese Businesses Case Research Centre at the
Hong Kong Baptist University.
