Inviting OasisCapturing the colonial styling of the mainresidence with its varied roofline, stonefaçade, and columns was the controllingdesign aesthetic for this Allendale poolhouse, says architect Fred Klenk, a memberof the American Institute of Architects. A 10-foot ceiling gives the 24-by-13-foot interior asense of volume with myriad features: akitchen, laundry zone, bathroom, andstorage closets for towels, pool equipment, and supplies. In conjunction there is anoutdoor shower, open patio layout, andkitchen for entertaining large crowds. Thepatio and pool coping are gray TennesseeCrab Orchard stone, says Bill Moore, acertified landscape architect with CiprianoLandscape Design. “Each stone waschiseled and cut on-site to ensure a snug fitwith consistent mortar joints,” he says.Bringing the plantings close to the water andextending boulders from the waterfall intothe landscape was paramount in achievingthe desired natural look, Moore says.Incorporating vertical elements such as palmtrees, hedges, and light posts “providesinterest and breaks up the space to a morehuman scale,” he adds.PHOTOS BY MARISA PELLEGRINISOURCES: pool, cabanastonework, outdoor kitchen, landscape and hardscape designand construction byCipriano Landscape DesignRamsey, NJ(201) 785-0800
