Factory start-up1.02 QUALITY ASSURANCEA. Products shall be Designed, Tested, Rated and Certifiedin accordance with, and installed in compliancewith applicable sections of the following Standardsand Codes:1. AHRI 550/590 – Water Chilling Packages Usingthe Vapor Compression Cycle2. AHRI 370 – Sound Rating of Large OutdoorRefrigerating and <strong>Air</strong> Conditioning Equipment3. ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 15 – Safety Code forMechanical Refrigeration4. ASHRAE 34 – Number Designation and SafetyClassification of Refrigerants5. ASHRAE 90.1 – Energy Standard for BuildingsExcept Low-Rise Residential Buildings6. ANSI/NFPA Standard 70 – National ElectricalCode (N.E.C).7. ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, SectionVIII, Division 1.8. ASTM A48 – Gray Iron Castings9. OSHA – Occupational Safety and Health Act10.Manufactured in facility registered to ISO900111. Conform to Underwriters Laboratories (U.L.) forconstruction of chillers and provide U.L./cU.L.listing label.B. Factory Test: Chiller shall be pressure-tested, evacuatedand fully charged with refrigerant and oil, and shallbe factory operational run tested with water flowingthrough the vessel.C. Chiller manufacturer shall have a factory trained andJOHNSON CONTROLSsupported service organization that is within a 50 mile(80 km) radius of the site.D. Warranty: Manufacturer shall Warrant all equipmentand material of its manufacture against defects inworkmanship and material for a period of eighteen (18)months from date of initial start-up or date of shipment,whichever occurs first.1.03 DELIVERY AND HANDLINGA. Unit shall be delivered to job site fully assembled andcharged with refrigerant (except remote evaporatorapplications) and oil by the Manufacturer.B. During shipment, provide protective covering overvulnerable components. Fit nozzles and open endswith plastic enclosures.C. Protect the chiller and its accessories from the weatherand dirt exposure during shipment.D. Unit shall be stored and handled per Manufacturer’sinstructions.PART 2 — PRODUCTS2.01 GENERALA. Manufacturers: The design shown on the drawings isbased on Johnson Controls. Alternate equipment willbe acceptable if their equipment meets the scheduledperformance and complies with these specifications.If equipment manufactured by a manufacturer otherthan that scheduled is utilized, then the MechanicalContractor shall be responsible for coordinating withthe General Contractor and all affected Subcontractorsto insure proper provisions for installation of thefurnished unit. This coordination shall include, but notbe limited to, the following:1. Structural supports for units.2. Piping size and connection/header locations.3. Electrical power requirements and wire/conduitand overcurrent protection sizes.The Mechanical Contractor shall be responsible for allcosts incurred by the General Contractor, Subcontractors,and Consultants to modify the building provisions toaccept the furnished units.B. Description: Install and commission, as shown on theschedules and plans, factory assembled, charged,and operational tested air-cooled screw compressorchiller(s) as specified herein. Chiller shall include,but is not limited to: a complete system with multiple169
