SAAS-FEE IN WINTER...
Known as ‘The Pearl of the Alps’ Saas-Fee is an Alpine village of great charmand character. Nestled on a plateauat 1800 metres, the village is car free,snow-sure and surrounded on allsides by the most spectacular sceneryfound anywhere in the Swiss Alps. Itis the sister resort of Zermatt but issignificantly less expensive with theenviable reputation as a resort where‘the Swiss prefer to Ski’.Saas-Fee currently has 22 lifts,including 3 cable cars, 1 funicularrailway (Metro Alpin), 5 gondolas (1dedicated to walkers), 2 chairlifts, plussurface lifts (draglifts). The ski run hasa vertical drop of 1,800 m (5,906 ft), atop elevation of 3,550 m (11,647 ft) andcovers over 100 km (30 km beginner,45 km intermediate, 25 km advanced).Further pistes are planned.Saas-Fee has a wealth of off-slopeactivities and boasts a vibrant aprèsski scene. There are over 50 bars andrestaurants, numerous nightclubs anda cinema. For the non-skier there is anice rink, a sports and leisure complexand many hotels offer extensive healthand wellness facilities. Overall, Saas-Fee is a friendly well equipped villageand has much to offer the visitor allyear round.
