Why it should be a love-love relationship!

Did you know the reason the pictures in the That’s Not My...series are outlined in black?

It’s so that when babies can only see black and white, they can still see the outline of the

pictures! Did you know that Animal Hide and Seek is really a book about counting and

addition? Did you know that although That’s Not My’s are marketed towards babies, they

are the PERFECT book for your beginning reader?

In my session, you will learn dozens of fascinating facts about our beloved Usborne books!

I look forward to sharing with you how the books can be used to help babies, toddlers and preschoolers develop

the skills they need to enter into kindergarten.

Jennifer Bridle is a mother, wife, sister, daughter, aunt, friend and teacher and she is passionate about Usborne

books. For the past 17 years, Jennifer has been an Early Learning educator working primarily with her

Kindergarten children. Seven years ago, when she was off on maternity leave with her first daughter, she was introduced

to Usborne books and while she swore she wouldn’t “become one of those people”, she decided to sign

up as a consultant because she fell in love with these books. Jennifer quickly became one of the leaders on the

Mighty Ducks team as her sales kept growing as she shared her enthusiasm for books with everyone she knew.

Her presentations are full of fascinating facts and no matter if you are new to Usborne, or if you have heard her

“book talk” multiple times, you will always learn something new. In 2009, Jennifer’s efforts were recognized by

the home office and she was named the Consultant of the Year in Canada. Jennifer’s team, Bridle’s Booklovers,

has grown over the years and she became a Supervisor in 2010. Her business is well-rounded and includes home

parties, conference exhibits and book fairs. The highlight of Jennifer’s career with Usborne Books was earning

the incentive trip to Hawaii . In Jennifer’s “spare” time, she is a Sparks leader, an active volunteer at her church

and girl’s school and enjoys paper crafting, travelling and gardening.

Cindy Armstrong, The Oh-So-Important Balancing Act

Welcome to my life as a mother, wife, friend, employee, and business woman! Beside me

is my wonderful hubby Adam, and trailing behind us are our 4 little ducklings, Nicholas

11, Nathan 8, Emma 5, and Tyler 2. I joined Usborne Books 7.5 years ago, with 2 specific

purposes. I was going to back to work after my maternity leave, going from full to part

time hours, so I desperately needed to supplement our income!! And, I wanted to give

our children every opportunity possible to be not only great readers and learners, but to

have the love of reading that has been so much a part of my life since childhood!! Very

appropriately, as Supervisor, the only name I could have as a Team Name, was Raise a

Reader, since that is still one of the very big reasons I am loving what I do every day!!! A VERY important part

of our life is balancing all those parts of our lives, in family as a wife and mother, and in business as a successful

business woman! I am so thrilled to share with you at convention all about this oh-so-important balancing act!

I look forward to seeing lots of familiar faces, and even more excited about meeting all those new faces!! See you

Carol Cooper, Good Communications -

The Ultimate Customer Service and Recruiting Tool

Communications are at the core of our business. Are you using all the communications

tools at your disposal? Find out how websites, newsletters and e-mails can be used to

entice and inform your customers and potential recruits. Want to know how to do nifty,

attractive e-mails? How to add hyperlinks to your e-mails? And what are the most

effective ways of attracting, identifying and landing new recruits? If you have a team, I’ll

suggest some ways to use technology for training, keeping in touch and building team

spirit. It’s easy – you just need to know about the tools available to you and how to use

them effectively and I aim to present a really practical session to fine-tune your communications skills.

Carol has just completed her 17th year with Usborne. She was born in Wales and started her working life as

a geologist, like her husband Mark. She has lived in England, Ireland and Colombia and worked in geological

research and as a high school Math teacher before settling in Canada. She fell in love with Usborne books when

her children were very young, and jumped at the chance to join UBAH when she heard about it. She’s been on

every award trip since they started, and has won the President’s Award six times. She lives in Calgary with

husband Mark, adult children Rachael and David, and cats Prudence and Chloe (the cheque-eating kitten). Carol

joined UBAH as a ‘filler’ when her children were young, until she was ready to get a ‘proper’ job. She soon saw

the potential in selling these wonderful books in an affluent, well-educated market and started to treat this as a

serious business, dedicating the necessary time to develop it. Seventeen years later she is an Executive Sales

Director with a large and successful downline team of Supervisors and Consultants. She still loves her job and

being her own boss, and is looking forward to many more years of growth and success with Usborne!
