We are pleased to report that strategic planning has
never taken a back seat at the Jewish Home as we have
been financially responsible and funding has been set
aside for the replacement of aging equipment in both
of our facilities. Plans have been developed to allow us
to continue to grow both in Rockleigh and in River Vale.
A home for the Jewish Home Family is in the wings
as is the expansion of the JHAL facility to develop more
space to improve the quality of life for their population.
Budgetary planning was put in place last year to enable
the Foundation and the financial office of the Jewish
Home Family to bring on the staff necessary to
accomplish both goals. While the Jewish Home at Home
is growing, it remains our biggest challenge as we are
seeing more and more elderly with needs but not the
assets to meet these needs. While these types of services
are being encouraged by all levels of government, the
funding for same still lags behind. Our efforts with
Jewish Home at Home from the beginning have
prepared for 20% charitable care but the needs are
greater. To date, we have been approaching Charitable
Foundations in our communities for additional support
to meet these additional needs, as well as the Jewish
Federation of Northern NJ and have been able to receive
some additional funding in the past year. This remains
the biggest challenge going forward.
Our ability to continue to meet the changing needs of our
elderly as the Jewish Home has in the past, has been
through the efforts of both lay leadership and professional
staff, and the community has been fortunate to have
had the efforts of wonderful people such as Ary Freilich,
to help the Jewish Home to move forward.
