A Note from the Dean
As the new year begins, it is a fitting time to look back at the many library accomplishments
and events that occured in the last half of 2008. We opened two new libraries, celebrated the
naming of two libraries, and once again partnered to present Books by the Banks: Cincinnati
USA Book Festival for the benefit of book lovers throughout the region.
In this issue of Source, we recognize the generous gift from Mark and Rosemary Schlachter to
name and endow the Robert A. Deshon and Karl J. Schlachter Library for Design, Architecture,
Art, and Planning. We also introduce the Donald C. Harrison Health Sciences Library,
which has its home in the spectacular Center for Academic and Research Excellence (CARE)/
Crawley Building and the Medical Sciences Building, and the new CECH Library, located in
the newly renovated Teachers College.
Our Libraries rely on dedicated staff members to provide the highest quality of service to our
users. We recognize the fine work of our colleagues through quarterly Quality Service Awards
and annual Celebrating Excellence: Priscilla Neill Library Leadership Awards. You’ll learn more
about the most recent recipients of these awards in this issue of Source.
