THIS WEEK: The Jacksonville Jaguars (1-2) finish their preseason schedule<br />

on Thursday, September 3 against the Washington Redskins (2-1). This<br />

week’s game marks the fifth time the two teams will meet in the preseason,<br />

with Jacksonville leading the series, 4-0. In their last meeting, the Jaguars<br />

defe<strong>at</strong>ed the Redskins, 24-17, in the 2009 preseason finale. The two<br />

teams have met six times in the regular season, with Washington leading<br />

the series, 5-1. The Jaguars are 46-38 in their 21-year preseason history.<br />

PRESEASON BROADCAST INFORMATION: For the second straight year, WJXT-<br />

TV Channel 4 serves as the Jaguars preseason broadcast partner. Sam Kouvaris<br />

will call the play-by-play, former Jaguars QB Mark Brunell will provide analysis<br />

and Nikki Kimbleton will report from the sidelines. The preseason broadcast<br />

will be shown in 10 markets in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Alabama.<br />

After a successful inaugural campaign in 2014, WJXL 1010-AM/92.5-FM returns<br />

as the team’s radio broadcast partner in 2015. Jaguars radio broadcasts<br />

fe<strong>at</strong>ure play-by-play announcer Frank Frangie joining former Jaguars<br />

Jeff Lageman and Tony Boselli in the booth, with Rick Ballou reporting from<br />

the sidelines. Jaguars.com reporter J.P. Shadrick co-hosts game day studio<br />

coverage alongside Mike Dempsey for the Jaguars radio network. The Publix<br />

tailg<strong>at</strong>e show begins the game day broadcast three hours prior to kickoff.<br />

PRESEASON WEEK 3 VS. DETROIT: Jaguars second-year QB Blake Bortles completed<br />

20 of 29 passes for 245 yards and one TD in just over two quarters of<br />

action (54 offensive snaps). Bortles and the first-team offense were extremely<br />

proficient on third-down, converting 10-of-12 opportunities and orchestr<strong>at</strong>ing<br />

three consecutive 80-yard drives to begin the game. On 29 pass <strong>at</strong>tempts,<br />

the first-team offense did not allow a sack. The Jaguars first-team offense<br />

has scored on eight of their last 11 possessions, which includes a turnover on<br />

downs in field goal range and the clock running out <strong>at</strong> halftime vs. Detroit.<br />

Second-year LB Jeremiah George posted two tackles vs. Detroit and leads the<br />

team with 15 tackles through three preseason games. While the offense registered<br />

30 first downs, the Jaguars defense held the Lions to 14 first downs. On<br />

special teams, the Jaguars coverage units rank among the league’s best with<br />

their opponents averaging 3.3 yards per punt return and 22.2 yards per kick<br />

return. The Jaguars punt return unit, which was highlighted by a 27-yard return<br />

by undrafted rookie CB Nick Marshall, is averaging 11.7 yards per punt return.<br />

RESHAPING A ROSTER: After his hire on January 8, 2013, General Manager<br />

Dave Caldwell was tasked with reshaping the Jaguars roster. Of the 75 players<br />

on the Jaguars current roster, only nine were with the organiz<strong>at</strong>ion prior<br />

to Caldwell’s arrival. Those nine players are K Josh Scobee, TE Marcedes Lewis,<br />

DE Tyson Alualu, LB Paul Posluszny, DE Ryan Davis, OT Austin Pasztor,<br />

QB Chad Henne, DE Andre Branch and P Bryan Anger. Of the 25 draft selections<br />

made by Caldwell over the past three drafts, 24 remain on the roster.<br />

<strong>JAGUARS</strong> MAKE ROSTER MOVES: The Jacksonville Jaguars announced on S<strong>at</strong>urday<br />

the following roster transactions to reduce their roster to 75 players: The club placed<br />

second-year OL Josh Wells and rookie DE Dante Fowler Jr. on the team’s Injured<br />

Reserve list; the club waived/injured second-year WR Greg Jenkins. Jacksonville<br />

also released third-year LB Mister Alexander, rookie DE Camaron Beard, first-year<br />

OL Cody Booth, fifth-year CB Tommie Campbell, rookie S Desmond Cooper, rookie<br />

DT Eric Crume, fifth-year WR Tandon Doss, second-year LB Khairi Fortt, rookie TE<br />

Connor Hamlett, first-year K/P Kasey Redfern, rookie OL Jack Rummells and second-year<br />

QB Jeff Tuel; the Jaguars active roster is now <strong>at</strong> 75 players. All NFL clubs<br />

must reduce their rosters to 75 players by 4:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday, September 1.<br />
