pretože „negro from Mississipi“ pomohol
Amerike zvoliť si svojho prvého černošského
prezidenta.
Kyoto Jazz Massive.
At this very moment, I‘m listening to Martin
Luther King speaking to hundreds of thousand
people about his dream when all people
are equal. I‘m writing the September editorial
on the day of the 50th anniversary of the legendary
Washington march, where one of the
most famous phrases of the 20th century was
said. MLK can consider his dream fulfilled
since today a „negro from Mississippi“ helped
America to elect its first black president.
Not everybody is happy enough to live in
a country where all citizens are equal.
We should value our freedom, which we
gained only 24 years ago. Not so long ago we
commemorated another anniversary, the anniversary
of the Russian invasion into Czechoslovakia,
which killed the nascent freedom
movement in then communist country.
We aren‘t indifferent to things happening
around us, the Nu Spirit world isn‘t only
about partying. So when having a drink in our
venues, please spare a thought about gays
in Russia or citizens of occupied Tibet. They
have their dreams, too, and their problems
bear upon us as well.
There will be a lot of opportunities to do so
in September. After a hot summer, we are
restarting the clubbing season with big-name
artists such as Sweatson Klank, Makoto,
Paleman or Mario Basanov. I‘m personally
looking forward mainly to playing back to
back with my long-term friend Shuya Okino
from the Kyoto Jazz Massive.
