† Hey everyone! Things will be

slowing down a little through the

summer, but we are hopeful/

prayerful that you will all be praying

about ways to get involved in Worship

Arts when the end of summer/

fall rolls around!! Just a few notes:

† Rockin’ Bells : Be watching for

email updates. We will start back

again probably in later Summer—for

a fall performance!

† Chancel Choir will be taking a full

break for ALL of June and some of

July. Watch for emails for information

on when we will return! We’d

love to have more family members in

this group. Let me know if you’re

interested in joining in later summer!

† Joyful Noise (ages 7-11 choir) –

Heather Dawson will run rehearsals

throughout the Summer on Sundays

at 4:30PM in room 110. Come join

the fun! The kids will be working on

fun curriculum and music!

† Sonshine Kids (age 3-6 choir) –

We are officially into spring.

Traditionally spring means

that we clean out the old

and bring in the new. If you

are having a hard time getting that clean, new start

feeling because you are facing some tough times,

maybe you could use a caring friend. That’s exactly

what Stephen Ministry is all about.

Stephen Ministers have committed a lot of time

to training. They are not professional counselors or

therapists, but they are very qualified to walk with

will start up again soon on Sundays

during the Sunday School Hour

(watch the bulletin for the exact date

of start up.) If you would like your

child to participate, they will meet in

the children’s wing and go through a

fun-filled, age appropriate curriculum

and music. They will perform 3-4

times per year. We give great thanks

to Kenni Dwyer for volunteering to

direct this group!! Please let me

know if you have interest in your

child joining!

† VBS is coming soon and we need

some more materials for decorations!!

It is an underwater theme this

year, and we are sooo excited with

the creative things we can do!! We

need greenery – underwater looking

greenery (seaweed, moss, etc.) Craft

stores have sprays and garlands of

this type, or under-water looking

greenery. We need as much as we

can get! Also- we need more BLUE

cellophane! This can be found at

craft stores as well! Thank you SO

MUCH for all your donations!! We

are all gonna be “swimming it up” in

this place soon!

~ If you need any more information

about anything in the worship arts

department, feel free to email :

you through your tough time.

A Stephen Minister is there to share and talk

with; and to pray and fellowship with. But with all

Stephen Ministers can do, we recognize that healing

comes from God. And that is where Stephen Ministers

are at their best, walking with you while you

walk with God.

If you are going through a tough time and could

use a caring friend, contact Steve Frank at

verdemardiver@yahoo.com or Pastor Bob Turk

at bob@fumctc.com .

The youth thank all

those who donated time

and money for a hugely

successful fundraiser!!

We all got to eat some grub and fellowship together,

and at the same time help out a great cause. I am

very thankful for the people of this church - time and

time again you all step up and “be the Church.” You

are helping make an impact in the lives of our youth,

as well as those they help in Tennessee. With your

donations and support we ensure that the youth of

this church experience a relationship with Christ!!

There will never be enough words to express how

grateful I am of your gifts at the Burger Burn. The Burgers

were just yummy were they not? Thanks must go

out to the adults who help the youth put this together:

Vicki Blancett, Renea Gonzales, Lyle Walden,

Dale Coleman, Shelly Smith, and Kathy Dahan. They

made this all possible, and for that I am forever grateful.

I love this church and these kids!!!

The youth will have an end of the year party at the

start sign ups on June 11th.

Space fills up fast, so please

watch the website for sign ups.

We still need lots of volunteers

to make VBS a success, both

youth and adults. Please

email Lisa Rodgers at

chlirodkids@verizon.net or

annemarie@fumctc.com to

volunteer!! Also be on the lookout

for our “donations needed”

sign! There are lots of ways to

get involved with VBS!!

Walden’s home on June 3 rd . All youth are invited to

come enjoy some fajitas, fun, and fellowship!! Just

bring a snack to share with everyone, and bring a

friend. Come have some fun with us - it starts at 5pm

and will go till 9pm - 8 Muirfield Dr. Trophy Club.

Please RSVP at steve@fumctc.com. Thank You!!

The youth will leave on June 9 th and start the journey

to Sunbright, TN. We will stay the night in Memphis,

TN, where we will enjoy the town of Memphis before

we start our work. We would like to invite anyone

from the church to see us off and pray with us as we

depart. If you would like to come out and send us off

in prayer, please come to the church at 8am on the

9th. We will have a group prayer and then leave to

ASP! Please follow the church Facebook page for updates

on our progress and keep us in your prayers!!!

Director of Children’s Ministry

Well, the day has finally

arrived when the much planned

renewal leave for Daniel has begun.

Needless to say, he prepared

me very well for the event, but my

mind has been in a spin as I go

from “retired, doing what I want

to” back into the role of pastor, if

ever so briefly. I am honored that

Daniel entrusted the job to me. I

am also hopeful you will find God

continuing to work at Fellowship

UMC this summer as God’s spirit

has moved us this year!

You may remember my

requests in these past weeks for the

scriptural texts that you have found

troubling. I thought you might

have some fun in both selecting

our sermon topics for this summer,

and hearing what scriptures other

We have listening devices for your hearing pleasure

during worship. To “check out” your complimentary

listening device for worship, ask at the media

booth. We also have large print Bibles and hymnals

available for use during worship. Simply ask an

usher for your complimentary copy during worship.

Our “cry room” is also available for parents with

young children to be able to view and hear worship

without feeling awkward about having a fidgety or

loud child. There are also unisex restrooms in the

sanctuary area in the hallways along the area immediately

behind the stained glass wall. Our handicapped

parking is on the northwest side of the building

(behind the sanctuary and in front of the playground

area). This parking is much closer to an entry

point to the church and on level ground! Don’t

be afraid to use it. On the west side of the building,

we also have a covered entry with an available

wheelchair for anyone who may need that assistance.

Be sure to take advantage of these amenities

that are designed to help you better worship God.

By Rev. Bob Turk

members find troubling or interesting.

So that is what we’ll do.

We have enough responses

to hopefully challenge us all. I

preached on John 15 for Memorial

Day and will discuss “reading the

Bible for all it is worth” on June 3.

For the following weeks, your suggestions

have been very helpful. I

couldn’t do a sermon on some of

the more general requests, but I

think you’ll find our explorations

interesting and rewarding.

I would like to continue

responding to your scriptural questions

or concerns in Newsletter

responses after Daniel returns. So

you can continue to send me your

scriptural questions as time goes

on. Perhaps as you do your daily

devotions you will find a question

you’d like discussed. Of course, I

can always talk with you, but you

can also email or use your Sunday

attendance slip to communicate, as

well. This is also a good time and

place to plug the Disciple Bible

Studies that we have at FUMC.

They will also help you read the

Bible for all it is worth!!

When Daniel returns from

his Renewal Leave we will have a

sermon series based on the book

Abundant Simplicity by Jan Johnson.

You may want to buy a copy

and read it in preparation for that

sermon series. I hope and trust we

will have a wonderful summer together.

Yours in Christ,

Are you looking for ways to make a difference in

the world? Would you like to know how you can

add greater value and purpose to your life? Why

not discover your Spiritual Gifts, so that you can

use them for God in the world! The discovery is

simple—just complete and return a Spiritual

Gifts Inventory, which you can find on the information

table in the foyer. Your spiritual gift has

been given to you by God for two purposes—

doing ministry and building up the body of Christ

(Eph. 4:12.) Once you’ve returned your inventory,

Ginny Denmark, our Director of Volunteer

Ministry, will help you better understand how you

can put your gift(s) to use.

Here’s an idea!

Take a look at giving electronically! It’s easy, convenient

and saves trees! Please call the church office

and speak to Ginny Denmark, or go to our

website, www.fumctc.com and look under resources

to get the authorization form to fill out.
