South Australia is a vast sprawling state that
encompasses so many different geographical
areas making getting around and exploring
half the fun.
Adelaide Airport is a short 15-minute drive from
the city. Then once you’re in the CBD, you have
the choice of public transport (buses, trains and a
free city tram), plenty of taxis or plain-old walking
– the city is a beautiful place to explore by foot.
To venture further out into suburbia, there are
numerous hire car companies available operating
out of the Adelaide Airport and metropolitan area
– there are also some offices in regional areas.
Bus companies offer an assortment of tours into
regional South Australia, exploring areas that
include the Yorke Peninsula, Limestone Coast and
Murray River. Then, for those that don’t mind light
plane flights, there are over 400 regional airports
and airstrips located around the state, including
spots at Ceduna, Coober Pedy, Kingscote, Mount
Gambier, Port Augusta, Port Lincoln and Whyalla.
There’s also the option to travel by ferry.
SeaLink operates the vehicle and passenger
service providing a direct link from Adelaide to
Kangaroo Island (via Cape Jervis on the Fleurieu
Peninsula) and SeaSA runs a ferry service
between Wallaroo on the Yorke Peninsula and
Lucky Bay on the Eyre Peninsula.
