10. What is the difference between G -factor and IQ?
There is no real difference. IQ is just a specific measurement scale that refers to the total
world population (mean 100, range 15). In general, organisations that wish to use intelligence
tests, like Connector Ability, want to compare a person to a more specific norm group, most of
the time a group of people with a specific educational level (for example Masters). Then it is
not necessary to estimate the IQ-score in addition to the t-score, the score used to compare
the score of a person with the norm group scores.
11. Does the speed of answering have an effect on the Connector
Ability score?
The speed has no effect on the test‟s score, because speed is not included in the
calculation of the score. A candidate has 1.5 minutes to answer a question. Answering
earlier does not cause a higher score and also doesn‟t provide more or less questions in
the test. However, a right or a wrong answer does. An adaptive questionnaire means that
a right answer is followed by a more difficult question, whereas after a wrong answer a
more easy question is presented. The test continues until there is a reliable calculation of
how difficult a question must be should the candidate only just be able to answer it
correctly. So with an adaptive questionnaire the speed of answering doesn‟t matter,
because more difficult questions can be presented earlier, namely when the answer to
the question is correct.
A „classic‟ intelligence test is usually a „speed and power‟ test. That means that the
questions at the end are more difficult than at the beginning, and that it is important to
work correctly and fast, so that there is enough time to get to the more difficult questions
and to, hopefully, answer these correctly.
