TECNOPOL is constituted as a group in 1996, specialized in the field of machinery and<br />

polyurethane raw materials for projection and injection applications.<br />

In a continuous process of expansion and investigation for new products through using<br />

high technologies, we develop polyurethane membranes , acrylic waterproofing, also<br />

excellent coating system currently known as: TECNOCOAT P-2049, a bi-component<br />

polyurethane membrane of high technical properties for waterproofing, excellent<br />

resistance to traction, abrasion, stress, high elongation and a very fast drying, only 4<br />

seconds.<br />

TECNOPOL has a specialized team that offers its clients the necessary expertise and<br />

technical assistance for the proper managing of all types of applications, whether in the<br />

field of waterprofing and in various industrial applications.


What is Desmopol?<br />

DESMOPOL is a liquid material based on a pure elastomeric polyurethane that produces a continuous<br />

membrane, elastic and fully waterproof, whose properties make it excellent for use on all surfaces, whether new<br />

construction or rehabilitation.<br />

DESMOPOL is durable and UV resistant also to atmospheric agents as rain, snow and hail the DESMOPOL<br />

based polyurethane is compatible with most of passable common protections, thus we could obtain a decorative<br />

coatings also for intensive uses as on roof gardens, reservoirs, civil engineering, wet and humid substrates,<br />

etc...<br />

Aplication<br />

step by step<br />

DESMOPOL membrane has multiple applications and use, on this brochure we detail the most<br />

common, however, with these uses must be taken into account all technical aspects of the system for<br />

the purpose to reach optimal results, and below it shows the correct way to perform a standard<br />

application.<br />

1 Substrate<br />

DESMOPOL must be applied on a continuous surface without voids or holes in order to obtain<br />

maximum adhesion of the continuous polyurethane membrane. Furthermore, the substrate must be<br />

clean, dry and free of contaminants such as dust, oil, grease, paint and other surface treatments. In<br />

case of doubt is recommended to test a small part of the substrate.<br />

2 Substrate preparation<br />

For best results is recommended to perform the repair of the support by filling voids, holes and<br />

levelling the surface. TECNOPOL offers a large range of products to perform these operations.<br />

In the case of concrete supports, beside of the mechanical preparation (milling) of the superficial<br />

cement layer in order to get open porous surface, It is also advisable to eliminate the feeble concrete<br />

and surface defects such as blowholes and voids.


Peripherals and auxiliary: It is important to evaluate and check the status of drains, walls, facades<br />

encounters, other next buildings, etc.. to proceed to completion before the application of<br />

waterproofing DESMOPOL membrane.<br />

Superficial cohesion: during the restoration of tiled roofs, removes all unattached tiles and replace<br />

them to keep a flat structure deck, you must also check that the grouting of the tiles is properly<br />

executed. If there are previous waterproofing systems should be checked for adherence and remove<br />

them in case of being in poor condition. Important: If applied to thin bricks are required placement of a<br />

geo-textile mesh to reinforce the waterproofing membrane.<br />

3 Primer use<br />

In most cases it is recommended to use a bi-component polyurethane primer as PRIMER-PU 1050 to<br />

give better adhesion and to prevent bubble formation.<br />

It should be applied by brush, roller or spray equipment (airless), and if necessary a light dusting with<br />

quartz sand from 0.3 to 0.8 mm to increase adhesion and mechanical fixation of the next system<br />

element.<br />

It is essential that the surfaces are in good condition, and fully cured for 28 days (DTU 21 and norm NF<br />

EN 206-1). It must have a low vapour transmission (less than 3 lb/24/h./1.000 ft / 2 test method<br />

RMA).<br />

4 DESMOPOL membrane<br />

DESMOPOL can be applied with spray equipment or manually.<br />

In both cases the application must be done uniformly. Although it<br />

can be applied during a cold, wet weather, it is preferable that the<br />

temperature is between 5 ° C and 35 º C and relative humidity<br />

does not exceed 85%. In case of use of spray equipment, it must<br />

be capable of supplying pressure of 280 bar (4000 psi). In manual<br />

applications simply require the use of brush (brush), roller or<br />

squeegee.<br />

Finishing layer (optional)<br />

Once the application of DESMOPOL membrane is made, and preferably before 76 hours from its<br />

application, it is advisable to spray one or two layers of aliphatic polyurethane top-coating membrane<br />

as TECNOTOP 1C, to obtain a perfect finishing and to ensure the stability of the desired colour.<br />

TECNOTOP 1C is also needed on surfaces that require resistance to traffic and to waterproof<br />

surfaces that require resistance to chemicals.<br />

Singular points<br />

Sometimes it is necessary to carry out preparatory and conditioning work prior to application of DESMOPOL<br />

system, because it depends largely on the waterproofing membrane is fully effective and sustainable. We detail<br />

the most common elements that can be found, if some use is not described; please contact TECNOPOL<br />

Technical Service.<br />

Encounter with downspouts<br />

In reparation jobs, once the tank is ready, proceed to<br />

apply DESMOPOL system across the internal<br />

circumference of the downspout, so up and down<br />

exceeding 10 cm, sometimes more distance,<br />

depending of the maximum level of water expected<br />

(exp: case of extreme precipitation).<br />

Expansion joints<br />

Fill the joints with polyurethane mastic, and then<br />

apply a waterproofing band reinforced by a geotextile<br />

mesh as TECNOBAND. This should cover<br />

between 10 at 15 cm on each joint side.<br />

Cracks<br />

There are passive or active cracks (more than 3 mm<br />

wide), After opening with a sanding disc or other<br />

similar tool than cleaning must fill them with a mastic<br />

or sealant as DESMOSEAL MASTIC PU, after its<br />

drying, we apply the DESMOPOL polyurethane<br />

membrane, it is important to test compatibility of<br />

both elements.<br />

Edges,ridges and encounters<br />

Sharp edges, sides and encounters must be<br />

rounded than treated with mastic as DESMOSEAL<br />

MASILLA PU, if necessary adding a geo-textile<br />

mesh layer as reinforcement.<br />

Vertical perimeters<br />

It is also necessary to perform the conditioning of<br />

vertical perimeters before applying the<br />

waterproofing membrane DESMOPOL.<br />

Wiring / Sockets<br />

Cables and sockets are treated as singular<br />

elements, and they must be treated before the<br />

waterproofing membrane is installed.

PRIMER-PU 1050<br />

DESCRIPTION<br />

PRIMER-PU 1050 is a bi-component polyurethane<br />

primer of low viscosity, it is created specifically to<br />

increase the adhesion and the union of systems<br />

(polyurethane, polyurea) on porous surface's<br />

substrate as, concrete, PVC panels, asphaltic sheet,<br />

marble, etc..<br />

Drying time is approximately 1-3 hours.<br />

Pot life: 45 to 60 minutes.<br />

Repaint: 24 and even 48 hours<br />

DESCRIPTION<br />

DESMOPOL is a liquid based on pure elastomeric<br />

polyurethane, once applied it produces a continuous<br />

elastic membrane, thanks to its excellent technical<br />

properties, this membrane is used for waterproofing<br />

application on many types of surfaces.<br />

APPLICATION<br />

DESMOPOL is one-component system, is applied by<br />

roller, brush or spraying equipment (airless), is possible<br />

the use of DESMOPOL with cold and damp weather,<br />

when it is raining and the membrane is not completely<br />

dry, the impact of rain can leave traces (small crater), in<br />

this case you could apply an extra coat DESMOPOL<br />

layer .<br />

LIMITATION<br />

Not recommended for waterproofing of swimming pools<br />

or contact with water chemically treated.<br />

Recommended support:<br />

Concrete, cement, tiles, mortar, rehabilitation of acrylics<br />

surfaces, asphaltic sheet, wood, and metal oxidized or<br />

with galvanized coating.<br />

DESCRIPTION<br />

It is an aliphatic polyurethane varnish used for the<br />

treatment, decoration and protection of pavements<br />

coating, its finishing is glossing also could be ant<br />

slipping by combining with quartz sand.<br />

Is a mono-component product, dry by the ambient<br />

temperature forming a hard continue film of excellent<br />

mechanical and chemicals' properties, given it a high<br />

adhesion , resistance to extreme temperature and UV<br />

radiation.<br />

APPLICATION<br />

Should be applied on smooth, clean, dry and<br />

without residual moisture support, to level the<br />

irregular surfaces, could use the mastic<br />

DESMOSEAL MASILLA-PU.<br />

In most application it doesn't need a primer.<br />

On crystal support it needs a PRIMER-T for more<br />

information please contact technical department.<br />

Could be applied by roller, brush or spraying<br />

equipment as airless gun.<br />

For cleaning, use DESMOPOL SOLVENT.<br />

When is used as DESMOPOL membrane sealer<br />

or on pavements, it could be pigmented by paste<br />

pigment of 10%, must be applied before 24 hours<br />

of desmopol or pavement application.<br />

During pigmentation process, avoid introducing<br />

air when mixing.<br />

Recommended performance is 0,1 - 0,2 kg/m2<br />

Apply by thin layer.<br />

Repaint is between 6 and 24 hours, must not<br />

exceed 48 hours.<br />

When is required an ant slipping finishing, is<br />

possible to add to last layer an arid, its<br />

granulometry depends of final use.<br />

Recipient once is open, is recommended its use as<br />

soon as possible.<br />

ALLOWED USES<br />

As varnish for pavement's protection and<br />

decoration. By increasing abrasion and UV (once<br />

is pigmented) resistance, is compatible with<br />

pigments.<br />

Concrete protection.<br />

Used as varnish on DESMOPOL waterproofing<br />

systems to increase abrasion and UV radiation<br />

Mastic data sheet<br />

DESMOPOL MASILLA-PU<br />

DESCRIPTION<br />

It is one-component polyurethane mastic, of rapid<br />

polymerization; in contact with moisture it forms an<br />

elastic solid sealant. This product is a free of solvent<br />

and PVC, ideal for sealing of cracks, voids, holes<br />

vertical and horizontal joints.<br />

Box of 24 units, silted into ampoules of 600 ml, white<br />

and Grey colours<br />

RECOMMENDED USE<br />

Floor joints,cracks and voids (not for expansion<br />

joints)<br />

Industrial sealing,<br />

Doors sealing.<br />

Cooling industry sealing.<br />

RECOMMENDED SUBSTRATES<br />

Generally is compatible with paints, but is<br />

recommended to test on small area. With prolonged<br />

exposure to UV radiation, the superficial layer loses<br />

its shine, but it does not affect the waterproofing<br />

properties.<br />

ADVANTAGE<br />

Excellent adhesion to most substrates.<br />

Excellent heat resistance for temperatures -40 º<br />

c to 90 º c<br />

Compatible with the paints once is dry.<br />

APPLICATION<br />

Requires a smooth surface, clean, dry and<br />

without residual moisture and as hard as<br />

possible.<br />

It must be applied at a temperature between<br />

+5°C to +40°C. With cold weather, store the<br />

product at 20°C before use.<br />

Immediate manipulation once mixed during<br />

application<br />

For the correct implementing, the width / depth<br />

ratio should be 2:1 at a minimum depth of<br />

10mm.<br />

Wipe off and dry with paper towels, than clean<br />

with DESMOPOL SOLVENT.<br />
