aspirations and match them to a program that will meet their career
goals. In addition, you should also consider the university’s commitment
to international students’ welfare, diversity, campus location and
graduate outcomes.
When it comes to graduate outcomes we rank in the top 20 per cent of
Australian institutions for graduate starting salaries. With CQUniversity,
your child will achieve success.
Visa information
If your child intends to study in Australia, they will require a student
visa. The type of visa they need depends on what they wish to study.
The Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) is responsible for
providing advice and issuing visas on entry to Australia.
For more information regarding visas visit the DIAC website at
www.immi.gov.au.
Health cover
Student visa holders are required by DIAC to have Overseas Student
Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of their studies.
Students under 18
If your child is under 18 years of age, DIAC requires that they:
• Have an approved guardian until they turn 18 years of age
• Reside in a CQUniversity approved accommodation
CQUniversity has engaged the services of external parties to provide
guardianship and homestay accommodation for students under 18
years of age. For more information regarding these services contact the
University.
Accommodation options
• On-campus – available at CQUniversity Mackay and Rockhampton
• Off-campus – renting a room, an apartment or a house
• Homestay – your child will be placed with a local family
