Youth Spectacular Update

29 groups have sent in a deposit including one High School for 927 participants. May 15 th is the
deadline for “intent to participate” deposits and forms.
We have had one planning meeting – at St James, Rocky Hill with 10 creative persons including
one youth - that generated some good ideas. Everyone took on a task.
• Blessed Sacrament, Hamden will work on the opening prayer which will include a very
• St Bridget, Manchester will work on keynote hospitality.
• St John Fisher-Marlborough, Sacred Heart-Hartford, St James-Rocky will continue to
brainstorm ideas for the Amazing gRace challenge stations. Some of the creative
stations that are being considered: Jeopardy; social justice stations (write a letter to
legislator, thank a soldier, stations of the cross); Vocation station; color a Mandala;
Rosary; Skit stations with a prop box; prayer wall; face painting; “I AM” prayer box;
Liturgical prep with art). If you have an idea for a station (prayer or game) and would be
willing to “man” it, let me know by June 15 th .
Other committees include:
• Registration – Our office will have most of this responsibility. So that we have a better
handle on our numbers we have decided that there will be NO WALK -INS and all
registrations need to be in our office by Sept 17 th so that we distribute the proper
amount of “stuff” at the mandatory orientation on Sept 18 th at 6:30 at Holiday Hill.
• Hospitality/Security – Looking for some energetic young people and adults to greet
folks as they arrive and help them to get oriented, registered and involved with Amazing
gRace. We’re also looking for some over 21 persons who can add some “security” or
friendly guidance /discipline to what will be provided by Holiday Hill
• Liturgy – The Office for Divine Worship will oversee a lot of this but we need other
input especially people to read and participate in the Mass. We want these names mid
summer so we can put the worship aid together which will include explanations for why
we do what we do at that part of the Mass.
• Reconciliation – the Vocation Office and the Office for Hispanic Evangelization have
ownership of this but could use some help.
The next planning meeting is Sunday June 8 th at 6:00 at OLO Mt Carmel.
We are very excited about “Praying it Forward” – a multimedia presentation to be
coordinated by the Office of Radio and Television. ORTV will be collecting pictures of your
group “responding to God the great I AM” through prayer, service, community building and set
them to music. Pictures will need to be accompanied by a release form which we’ll have soon.
This will be shown during the CYS.
We are looking for sponsors, prizes, coupons etc. We have already received some exciting
giveaways. Let folks them know of our sponsorship opportunities. We have a letter if you need
something official to give potential sponsors.
