RICHARD HOWELL<br />
Assistant Strength and Conditioning<br />
Richard Howell is in his 12th season as assistant strength and conditioning coach of<br />
the <strong>Colts</strong>. Howell is responsible for assisting strength and conditioning coach Jon<br />
Torine in all aspects of the club's conditioning program. He previously served as a<br />
graduate assistant at North Carolina in the strength and conditioning department.<br />
Howell also helps coordinate the <strong>Colts</strong>' successful player development programs,<br />
one of which was cited in 2009 as the league's Outstanding Financial Education<br />
Program.<br />
Howell was the head strength and conditioning coach for the Barcelona Dragons of<br />
NFL Europe in 1999. He previously served as an assistant coach at Davidson College from 1994-98. He<br />
spent the summer of 1997 as an intern in the Carolina Panthers scouting department.<br />
Howell was a quarterback at Davidson (1990-93) and was the team captain as a senior. Upon graduation,<br />
he held five school records and finished his senior season ranked fourth nationally in scoring for<br />
Division 1-AA football. He played one season for Akersberga in a Sweden league. He holds a bachelor's<br />
degree in biology from Davidson.<br />
Howell was born on February 19, 1972, in Bladenboro, N.C. He and his wife, Karen, have three children,<br />
Alexis, Jacob and Joshua. They reside in Indianapolis.<br />

PETE METZELAARS<br />
Offensive Line<br />
Pete Metzelaars is in his second season as offensive line coach of the <strong>Colts</strong>.<br />
Metzelaars served for the six prior seasons as offensive quality control with the<br />
club, and his role was expanded to assistant offensive line coach in 2008.<br />
Metzelaars joined Indianapolis from Wingate University, where he served as an<br />
assistant offensive coach in 2003.<br />
In 2010, the club won a seventh division title in eight years and posted its 13th<br />
consecutive season with 5,000+ net yards. QB-Peyton Manning was 450-679-<br />
4,700, 33 TDs/17 ints., while the offensive line tied for the NFL-low with 16 sacks<br />
in 695 pass attempts. The one sack allowed for 43.4 attempts ranked as the 2nd-best mark in club history,<br />
just behind one for 47.2 in 2009. The line had four different starting configurations as the club produced<br />
the league's 4th-ranked offense and top-ranked passing attack. Manning extended his NFL records<br />
with a 13th consecutive 25+-TD season and an 11th 4,000+-yardage season, while setting a league seasonal-mark<br />
with 450 completions. C-Jeff Saturday earned a fifth Pro Bowl bid.<br />
In 2009, Manning was 393-571-4,500, 33 TDs/16 ints., while the offensive line surrendered an NFL-low<br />
13 sacks in 614 pass attempts. The one sack allowed for 47.2 attempts broke the previous club seasonal<br />
mark of one in every 42.8 (2008). The line had five different starting groups, and the club had the<br />
league's 9th-ranked offense and 2nd-ranked passing attack. Manning set a club seasonal-mark with a<br />
68.8 completion percentage and Saturday earned a fourth Pro Bowl bid. In 2008, Manning was 371-<br />
555-4,002, 27 TDs/12 ints. The line had only two 16-game performers, yet yielded but 14 sacks, 4thfewest<br />
in the NFL, while allowing one sack for every 42.8 pass attempts. The line had five different starting<br />
groups during the season. In 2007, Indianapolis ranked 5th in NFL offense and 3rd in NFL scoring.<br />
Manning was 337-515-4,040, 31 TDs/14 ints., and helped WR-Reggie Wayne (104-1,510, 10 TDs),<br />
TE-Dallas Clark (58-616, 11 TDs) and RB-Joseph Addai (261-1,072, 12 TDs) have solid years.<br />
Indianapolis earned its NFL-record seventh offense with a 4,000+ passer and 1,000+ rusher and receiver.<br />
In the NFL's 91 seasons, the <strong>Colts</strong> own seven of the league's 37 such offenses. In 2006, Manning<br />
