CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES
The Deep Run competition cheerleading<br />
squad placed 2nd in the district to send<br />
them to compete in the regional<br />
competition this upcoming Saturday<br />
evening! Come out to the Siegel Center<br />
Saturday, November 3rd, at 6pm to<br />
support their quest to compete at the<br />
state level! Admission is $8 and tickets<br />
will be available Saturday starting at<br />
12pm located at the VCU box office. We<br />
can't wait to see you there!!

will hold its first official meeting<br />
during ES Thursday (today) in<br />
room 238. Current and new<br />
members are encouraged to<br />

positions, and college<br />

on sale in the drama room<br />

The ACADEMIC AWARDS ASSEMBLY will be<br />
celebrated this year on Friday, November 9th, at<br />
10am in the Gym. Any sophomore, junior or senior<br />
who earned straight Aís, perfect attendance or a<br />
perfect SOL score from last year will be honored.<br />
Parents of award recipients are welcome to attend.<br />
On Thursday, Oct. 4th, a list of award recipients was<br />
posted outside of the School Counseling Office. You<br />
have until Friday, October 26th to let the counseling<br />
office know if your name is missing. Congratulations<br />
to all award recipients and more details later about<br />
practice.

Attention Sophomores interested in a new<br />
aerospace opportunity! The VA Space<br />
Coast Scholars program is a free of cost<br />
program which allows students a chance<br />
to engage in a dynamic online learning<br />
experience culminating with a summer<br />
academy at NASA Wallops. At the<br />
summer academy students will design a<br />
scientific exploration mission,<br />
design/build/fly the payload and obtain<br />
and analyze the data. Applications<br />
available 11/2 at vscs.spacegrant.org.<br />

UVA will be holding a College Prep Night,<br />
Thursday, November 8th, 6:30-8:30pm at<br />
Richmond Community High School. The<br />
Asst. Dean of Admissions from UVA will<br />
be speaking with all interested high<br />
school students about admissions to UVA.<br />
She will talk about the application<br />
process, what to include in your essay,<br />
and SAT and ACT scores. Questions or<br />

Thinking about college? Whether you are<br />

your options, you can get answers to your<br />
questions about college admissions, the<br />
financial aid process and scholarships at J.R.<br />
Tucker High Schoolís College Night. The event<br />
will be held on Monday, November 12th at 6pm<br />
in Cafe 3. Pizza and drinks will be served at<br />
6pm until we run out! The program will begin at<br />
6:30pm and conclude with a scholarship<br />
drawing for $500 each to be awarded to 4<br />
students who are present at the event that<br />

a Citizenship Essay Project. This<br />

The Comcast Leaders and Achievers<br />
Program is offering a $1,000<br />
scholarship to students who have a<br />
strong commitment to community<br />
service, academics and<br />
demonstrated leadership.<br />

RADFORD UNIVERSITY will be hosting an ON-<br />
SITE APPLICATION REVIEW on Friday,<br />
November 30th at 11:30am in the Career<br />
Center located in school counseling. In order to<br />
be considered you must: 1. Sign up in the<br />
counseling office. 2.Submit an application for<br />
admission (along with the application fee) to<br />
Radford by Nov. 1st. 3. Have your SAT/ACT<br />
score sent through<br />
collegeboard.com/actstudent.org to Radford.<br />
4.Request your transcript early enough for<br />
Radford to receive it by November 1st. To sign<br />
up and for more information come by the school<br />
counseling office.
Seniors- There will no longer be a<br />
Scholarship Drawer in School Counseling.<br />
