Dempsey and Donnellan go head to head Visually impaired woman taken to court by An Post BY CLAIRE CORRIGAN Visually impaired Mullingar motherof-one, Suza nne O’Con nor has spoken out about being brought to court twice by An Post for not supplying a TV licence despite being on Disability Allow - ance. She says she was treated like ‘a criminal’ for not having a TV licence she was entitled to. When Ms. O’Connor received a visit from a TV licence inspector in August of this year she explained that she had applied for the Household Benefits Package, which includes a free Suzanne O’Connor. TV licence, but the package had not arrived yet. However the inspector said that she would be prosecuted as they could find no record of her application. Contd: PAGE 16 ROCHFORTS (Tom Nally Ltd) Gang of thieves targeting sports and leisure enthusiasts Gardaí believe that a gang of thieves are targeting vehicles parked at Mull - ingar sports clubs and other leisure premises following a number of recent thefts. Goods valued in the thousands have been snatched from cars, and Gardaí are warning motorists and people attending sports clubs and hotels in the area to ensure their valuables are not left visible when they leave their locked cars. They think the high number of crimes in recent weeks are linked, and they are asking people not to carry valuable items in their cars when it is not necessary. For the full story see page 4.
