Qualification Aim<br />

These qualifications are aimed at<br />

learners wishing to develop an<br />

understanding <strong>of</strong> photographic<br />

processes and the photo imaging<br />

industry. The qualifications will also<br />

allow learners to understand how<br />

to manipulate images and explore<br />

in detail the following areas <strong>of</strong><br />

photography:<br />

• darkroom<br />

• studio<br />

• location<br />

• commercial<br />

• documentary<br />

• experimental and alternative<br />

processes.<br />

The objective <strong>of</strong> these qualifications<br />

is to support learners to progress<br />

into employment in the industry<br />

or on to further qualifications at<br />

Level 3 in creative subjects including<br />

photography, art and design,<br />

craft, animation and moving image<br />

production, or into employment.<br />

Qualification Structure<br />

These qualifications consist <strong>of</strong><br />

10 units.<br />

To be awarded the Extended<br />

Certificate, learners must<br />

successfully complete all units from<br />

Group A and 2 units from Group B, a<br />

total <strong>of</strong> 28 credits.<br />

To be awarded the Diploma, learners<br />

must successfully complete all units<br />

from Group A and 5 units from group<br />

B, a total <strong>of</strong> 52 credits.<br />
